Arm rest console & shift knob fitment on SS

There was this regular 5 speed cobalt on the showroom floor's dealership I bought my SS from & it had the arm rest console in it. Does it fit to the SS as well? The dealer parts guys told me that it was available as a kit but couldn't give tell me if it could be fitted specifically to the SS as well (available only for the automatic Cobalt according to his parts PC ).

Also, are there other shift knobs available for this car? I HATE the cheap stock piece it came with.

Thanks

Yes the armrest does fit the SS. Some people just find it a pain to lift and let down the e-brake.

I've installed one in both of the SS's I've owned. Works great and wouldn't have it any other way.

As far as the ebrake is concerned, you can still engage it and release it without too much issue. You don't need to lift up the armrest every time to make it work.

I also observed that it was somewhat of a pain to reach the e-brake & it looked cheap but definitely better than nothing. What's the best online parts retailer?

You have a 2.4L right? They came with them. The SS/SC and '08+ SS's do not.

Thanks for confirming this, I ordered the armrest today.

Any suggestions for shift knobs? I did a search & found the TWM ones but I'd like to avoid an all metal one as they get HOT in the summer sun.

The e-brake access is a pita but the worse issue for me is my arm rubbing on the armrest when I shift.

Handy for storage though (smokes, shades, etc.), just spends most of it's life stood up in my car

I ended up ordering it through my dealer & it arrived the next day. I installed it yesterday & it took about 1/2 hr w/the instructions I found on this site. I definitely like it.

Now, I just gotta find a suitable shift knob for it.

You should see what metal ones are like in the freezing winter... Now that is an "OUCH" moment!

I guess it could be annoying but I've just gotten used to it after the first SS. If I had in mind to race my car I would probably flip up the armrest, but most of the time I'm a pretty relaxed driver and don't really pound on my shifts.

Congrats man. Simple addition to the interior but makes a big difference in my eyes. They should have just come with them stock. Then people could choose to have them down or to flip them up.
