Carbon Fiber Hoods??????

Looking to talk to someone that owns a carbon fiber hood. How long do they hold up as far as the clear coat goes? What company seems to be the best? You know how you see carbin fiber hoods that the suns uv rays take effect on and makes them look like crap?

I actually also have a question about carbon fiber hoods. In addition to what cobalt5ss asked, whats this I hear about some of them needing hood pins?

all cf hoods have a provision for the stock latch and also the stock hood strut so you dont need hood pins is a good idea? yes do you need them? no dont put on the hood strut too btw itll bend and make your hood flex

get the thing cleared!!!!!! end of story.

150 bucks at a good body shop is all i see you paying. then you NEVER have to worry about the gel coat fading or the carbon twills turning yellow.....not to mention that extra clear gives the carbon a deeper look...

however if you choose not to clear it DO NOT BUFF THE HOOD EVER. if you do that will result in fading yellowing etc etc etc

I have seen the result of a Grounded Concept CF Suncoast hood lose its latch on a highway.

faulty latch on it which has been replaced btw for all ones sold.

anyways after a 100+ km/h smash into the window the hood survived with just a mess up to the clear coat. probably one of the best made hoods I seen.

I was under the impression that the Suncoast hood was NOT made in Carbon Fiber?

If u can keep the cf in good condition go for it. But if u live where it's humid it will eat it up if u don't care for it properly. As far as proper install I never had any issues with it poping up or Flying off my car just make sure u check bolts and tighten every Month or so just to be safe.

I wanted it in CF so I had Grounded Conceptz make it for me.

Currently there are only 5-6 of these made. but he can make more

I did this to RK's 3 piece wing to as I wanted it in CF as well.

The CF Suncoast is really good, it would fit perfect if my GMPP intake wasn't pushing up on it from underneath. I also have the hood strut installed and not a single problem or sign of bending. This thing is damn near indestructible.

Would you mind PMing me some details? Price and all that?

I've been messaging other vendors to see if they'll make one, lol.

FYI, my Carbon Creations hood had an unacceptable amount of factory blemishes but didn't fade or anything for the 8 months I owned it before I traded the car. I'd prolly stay away from them unless I could see the hood in person first. The quality was good, but the blemishes made it less desirable.
