carbon fiber roof wrap

ok heres the pics, i just installed the wrap today, it was real hard and i messed up a little but not to much. you can only notice if you look at it real close, a few bubbles here and there but overall i think it came out good.
here is how my roof paint was looking

i remember a while back someone posted a link to a company that sells carbon fiber by the feet, i forgot the name of the site

ikeryder13 06-18-2010 05:12 PM

its 3m

tanelk 06-18-2010 05:13 PM

ok i found the website that sells it, is 60x48 enough to wrap the roof?

ikeryder13 06-18-2010 05:16 PM

umm idk know the exact specs but i would say yes

brideout_8 06-18-2010 05:21 PM

Have you ever worked with vinyl before? 3M is the best stuff to use but with it being a carbon fiber vinyl it will be harder to install. If you have any questions on how to install or what to use to clean the roof before you begin let me know. I work for a vinyl company and have done wraps before.

tanelk 06-18-2010 05:23 PM

they have a how to video on there site, basically you need a heat gun but since im only doing the roof, i dont need to curve anything so i dont see it being that difficult.

tanelk 06-18-2010 05:26 PM

the website is carbonfiberfilm.com comes in 7 different colors, im going to order the 60x48, i hope its enough to wrap the roof.

ikeryder13 06-18-2010 05:26 PM

U should just get a big piece of carbon fiber and put it up there

tanelk 06-18-2010 05:34 PM

can someone go outside and measure there roof before i buy this lol

crazywhiteboy89 06-18-2010 05:40 PM

That's not bad at all. At least that will match since you have a CF hood, shouldn't look to bad, otherwise I would say no CF on a black car. Just be warned, The wrap isn't as shiny as your CF hood is, you would have to clear it.

tanelk 06-18-2010 10:29 PM

oh i already know its not shiney, i think it will look good having a dull black look. now im just trying to figure out how im going to cut the sunroof for it, its going to be tricky.

ryaan 06-18-2010 10:31 PM

u cant really see the top of the car THAT well though unless your in a big ass SUV or 6.5ft tall. i dont think the glossiness would be a big issue, but if u got it cleared it wouldnt hurt. 160 isnt a bad price i guess, go measure your car first tho lol

edit; for sun roof, lay it ontop of your car and trace it (obviously before u take the plastic cover on the adhesive so it doesnt stick.)

edit2; do u have CF hood/trunk/inserts on highrise? id love to see pics of all that on a black car, sounds sexy

Laser Target 06-19-2010 02:07 AM

I want to see some pictures of how it turns out

Koenreich 06-19-2010 10:02 AM

I wouldn't mess with tracing anything. Do it right and measure your roof as a whole, make your marks on the CF that will be the WHOLE roof. Next measure to each corner of your sunroof and then make the marks on your CF. All that you will have to do now is connect the dots.

Boosted_Cobalt09 06-19-2010 10:28 AM

have a professional install it. if you havent done something this large your in for a treat.

tanelk 06-19-2010 10:36 AM

yea but who exactly would i take it to, its not like im wraping a hood

ryaan 06-19-2010 11:10 AM

dude... when u lay it down, u can use your fingers to press down and feel the creases where the sunroof is. use a pencil or something to trace it, cut it out, and then go back and make adjustments to make it more precise. and be very steady!

tanelk 06-19-2010 12:12 PM

with the extra piece when i cut the sunroof out, i may just wrap the wing also
