Cobalt seat options?

Ok, I have a 4dr LS grey interior like most. What options for performance seats do I have that still retain the airbag sensors and mostly match the rest of the interior? I tried a search and got nothing useful.

I have the beige interior also, but ima 2door. Its soooo ugly lol. I want the leather two-tone ones from the SS models. Have u considered the leather seats from the sedans?

Are aftermarket full blown racing seats really necessary? Lol thats like the last mod i would do on a daily driver...

Does anyone know how to get 08-09 SS seats new? It can't be as easy as walking into the dealership and ordering them.

actually dealers CAN commonly order current year seats as complete assemblys, as opposed to parting them togther (which is usaully more expensive, and still needs to be assembled)

I got some leather ones from a 09 to put into my 06, and was told the sensors wouldn't work together so...

Yes they are definetely necessary considering I'm daily driving on my autox setup and I auto x pretty frequently. Thanks for the help guys, I'm gonna check out the 4dr SS ones first to see what they might do. If anyone knows of anyone making actual race seats tho let me know.

The Recaro's I have are awesome, I was lucky enough to find someone that didn't like them and got a sweet deal on them too. Just keep an eye out on other members selling them.

But don't be surprised to pay around $600 shipped for a set of Recaro's....

I didn't think he was looking for just color, thought he also brought up Auto-X??? So he needs a performance seat also.

well if u wanna get those crazy lightweight single shell racing ones you can buy universal and it comes with its own assembly that u would have to bolt to the floor. but this would be mega overkill even for auto x IMO. i guess u are looking for performance-type seats with a racing harness...i dont think they make any cobalt-specific ones...

They make a lot of them, you just have to find the bracket that mounts up to the seat.

Recaros. I hated my stock seats. Eventhough they were black/silver, they were so uncomfortable. The Recaros look great, and are VERY bolsterd. Get a set. Best part is, they fit into a sedan for you.

Edit:

I see you're in Butler. Check out a place on eBay called Morad Auto Parts.. They're in Cleveland.. That's where I got mine.. Good price, and not a bad drive.. They stock alot of Cobalt / Ion things..

I find them a hell of alot better than the factory seats in terms of comfort.. The factory ones always felt like they were poking you in the back, even with the back support at minimum.. You sit IN the Recaros, not ON them.. lol. I was in an '04-ish Subaru STi last night.. My Recaros have more bolstering on the back portion than that did.. lol. And that's a 2 piece seat, not a 3.. Crazy..

I'm gonna check those out. I looked at them on ebay and theres a set for 325 but I'm doin research on how to spend my upcoming income tax return. So its gonna be a couple months, but I seen them and they look more than adequate. The ones I have now just feel like I almost overlap them, no "hug" affect at all. I had Full on race seats in my truck (S-10ss auto-x beater) and I know I dont want some crazy ass seat like those. They sucked dd.

Get the Recaros. Honestly. The Cobalt ones are black leather with grey mesh. The Redline ones are MOSTLY black leather with blue mesh, but later ones had grey mesh. The Cobalt ones are a direct plug in, but the Redline ones are a bit more work because you have to remove the airbag sensor from your stock seats to use in them since Ion's never had that sensor.. It sounds much worse than it is. Trust me. There's a how-to somewhere.. They're fantastic though. The back seat is phenomenal too if you can score that.. The rear 3 way bench turns into basically 2 buckets with a center tray. And who can't use 2 more cup holders..?? 6 cup holders FTMFW. I like them because they're race seats for civilians.. Like in the VW's when they use Recaros in the GTI / GLI.. Same idea..

The SS Recaro's don't have the passenger sensor either. Every time I get in my car I have to clear the fault on the display. I will eventually buy the sensor though, but for the seats basically being factory they rock!!!

Hmm.. I have the sensor in my car.. It's plugged in, but just lying under the seat.. I have yet to actually put it IN the seat.. So it just always reads as no-one being in the passenger side.. But every once in a while it'll chime on the dash.. Weird..

Hmmm...yes very weird, and I would do the same but my passenger seats moves a lot due to lame asses getting in the back so I would be afraid to mess it up but probably this winter would be a good time to do it.

Do you run at SCR?

Call Apex Performance, they might be able to talk to you about performance seats and brackets for the Cobalt.

Worst case, I'm going to maybe look into Recaros, but I'd like a seat that I can put harnesses through.

Pretty sure you could make up an aluminum divider to go between the head rest and seat itself still utilizing the head rest pegs.

1/4" thick aluminum flat bar and just bend it around twice on both sides evenly, then drill 2 holes, round the edges, and maybe powder coat it or anodize it....there problem solved, nothing super pretty but functional and track use only...
