GM also sells both the proper primer and clearcoat for use with there spray paints. Sorry but as far as I can remember GM doesn't tell if its enamel or laquer. I always just used the Duplicolor clearcoat and primer and never had any issues. Sorry I didn't see you ask before or I would have said something for you. Hope this helps.

Here's the paint that i used. On the tiny bottle of touch up paint that the dealer gave me it says that the paint is a lacquer.(the clear coat I used is lacquer too)

So you want the Duplicolor brand, not the GM Paint?

Yeah. I used some when a Chevy dealership (Country Chevrolet) somehow managed to chip my door up by the window trim while it was getting a wheel stud replaced.

Hey, somebody backed into my back bumper and scratched about a 4" long & about 1/4" wide line in it. Looks like it just scrapped the paint off, there's no grove or deep pit. Would the paint be fine for a cover up? If so would I need a clear for it too?

Sorry guys but I no longer work for GM and no longer have access to the paint info anymore. I wish I could edit the original posting to say that but it won't let me.

Well, when my dealership epic failed and chipped my paint on my door when I brought it in to have a wheelstud replaced, they gave me Olympic White touch up paint.....so i'm assuming so. I believe Summit White is just a revised named for it.

SPORT RED MET (29U)................12346746

Now these are the color names but I would STRONGLY suggest you double check your paint code against the (--U) next to the color to be sure you ask for and order the CORRECT color! GM does change names but paint codes never change, always go by the paint code even if it has a different name. Again paint names can change from year to year and model to model but paint CODES DO NOT!

Note: these are 5oz. cans of color matched paint from GM, not aftermarket! These are the absolute closest you will ever get to matching your cars color.

Any questions?

will this paint work on my color matching my first gen projectors?
