Gen 3 Projectors help.

So I bought some new headlights from a member, and I'm not sure what I've got going on here. So far I've concluded I require 2 ballasts and 2 H1 bulbs. Here is a picture of the rear of the housings.

Can anyone tell what else I'm going to need? The driver side headlight has this crazy wire harness that's wired into the headlight wires. The passenger does not have this. From what I've read about the Gen 3 headlights is that they do NOT require the Bi-Xenon bulbs as I do not need to run high and low off the same bulb? Or is that incorrect?

Someone help a electrical dummy!

The crazy wire your talking about looks like a relay harness if im not mistaken. That makes it so u have full power to the headlights and wont get flickering or dimness. You are correct that they do not use bi-xenon bulbs. If u wanted both high and lows to be hids, then u would need 4 bulbs, 4 ballasts and 2 relays total. All bulbs being h1s

So I can't just buy an hid kit with 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts and be kosher? Or do I need to run the relays?

From the looks of it you have the relay harness. So you would just need the ballasts and bulbs to work, then hook them up to the harness you have.

You need an H1 HID Kit of you color temp choice (ex. 6000k recomended anything higher is going ti be very blue). Now for hook up the light blue connectors will plug into your vehicles harness (where the original headlights plug into). Next you have a red wire, that is your power wire which connects to a power source. I would connect it to the accessory terminal on the fuse box. Next you have a black wire, this is your ground and needs to be connected anywhere on the frame of the car (make sure the connection is clean as you need a good groud). Next you have 2 connectors one will connect to your driver side ballast and the other will connect to your passenger balast. After thay you should be good. High beems are also H1 bulbs. If you want your highs to be hids you would need a second relay harness and abother H1 HID kit. If you have any questions on the install feel free to pm me.

So the one relay harness is good for both of my headlights? Currently it wired to just the driver headlight and there is no other connection to wire to the passenger headlight. Here's a few pictures to describe what I'm explaining.

Thanks for that reply though, that cleared up a bunch so far. Now to figure out this relay stuff.

The two plugs coming out of the harness go into the ballasts. An you also need the wiring harness off of your stock headlights. Just unscrew the bulbs and it should all come out then screw them into the new headlights

So I'm still wondering why the relay harness is wired to one headlight, and can't be wired to the other headlight. Does it just need one headlight and the plug that runs to the other ballast handles what it needs to?
