HID questions

Hey guys, I have the chance to get an HID kit from a friend for free. The kit is one of the lower priced ones direct from China, appears to be direct plug and play. My question to you guys is, what are the concerns with a cheaper kit? Im mostly concerned with the ballasts possibly catching fire.. is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks!

Make sure they are actually made for your 9007s, some of them say 9007 but are generic and dont come with a wiring harness/proper fitment

I actually require H1's as I have the projectors already. Thanks for the heads up though

I honestly wouldn't be too concerned. HID has become so popular, that there are hundreds of different "knock-offs" on the market. When he says cheap kit from China, does he even know what he's talking about, or does that just mean he got em off ebay. The supply of aftermarket HID is so high, that the prices have dropped significantly. Sure, you can still pay top of the line price for hella or phillips and get top of the line quality. But a lot of people buy these so-called "cheap" kits and never have a problem. Most kits are still warrantied for years, so there is some trust behind the product. Back on subject, I've heard of one ballast catching fire and it turned out to be a wiring problem. I wouldn't stress about it.
