HOW TO: Wire Quad Beam Headlights(High+Low)
First off, this was just my way of using the parts i had do the things i wanted them to, so yes this may not be the most practical way. BUT, its easy and it works. Also, this is for the use of aftermarket headlight housings using separate bulbs for high/lo.
Things you need:
1. Some kind of HID controller (9007)
2. Four HID ballasts
3. Extra wire
4. Soldering iron OR Crimper and connectors
So to not fry the headlight harness, i only run one set of ballasts directly connected to the new headlight harness. Find which wires are the positive and negative for your high beam circuit.(Mine was light blue and black) Test the wires with a volt meter and check for 12V only when the high beam circuit is on. Hook a set of ballasts up to those wires(each side). Then test the high beams(on/off).
Now. When i was using the factory headlight housing, i had a high/lo controller for the single 9007 high/lo bulb. How this works is by plugging into your stock 9007 bulb socket and use it as a switch to control the high/lo. This 9007 controller is what i use to power my low beams. The problem with this is that when you switch to the aftermarket headlight housing, you lose the 9007 headlight harness that has the socket required to run the switch.
The switch gets its power from the positive battery post at the fuse box, and is fused. For the switch to power your low beams without the 9007 socket, it needs a 12v headlight source signal, and a ground to the 9007 socket on the controller. I stole 12v from the daytime running lights circuit on the aftermarket headlight harness and ran it to the headlight source wire on the 9007 controller. Youll need to do some testing with a voltmeter to see which wire that is.
The 9007 socket has three wires. One for low beam headlight signal, one is ground, and one controls the high on/off. Youll need to find a suitable ground for the 9007 socket(I used the bottom of the fender bolts). Then just hook your low beam ballasts into the controller and into your bulbs.
Now. If its set up right, your low beams should run with your daytime running lights and your highs/los stay on at the same time.
Find a good place to adjust them, and have fun.
I dont have any good pictures of the wiring, but if anyone really wants it, just PM me and ill go take pictures. Here is what i have.

You can see the controller here, i think its from ebay. This is a single bulb set up though.
