I Found Interior Paint that Looks Great! (Stock silver)
I went to Canadian Tire the other week and spent a long time matching colors to our stock Nickel interior, I found a particular one called Nickel Shimmer by Krylon in their "Fusion" for plastic lineup. Claims no prep, dries in 15 minutes or less. I washed my peices down with dish soap and hit them with a light sanding with 400 grit.
So far it looks like an awesome match compared to my unpainted pieces. (Currently still painting). I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done though. I was looking for paint to replace the stock crappy silver for a while and found that GM never made any so hopefully this will help someone else. Joel |
Just paint it orange to match your car like I did...

in for results :)

I can't stand the look of Orange in there, I was considering it but the radio and HVAC stick out so much to me. I really like the look of the silver. Joel |
Oooooh. No Canadian Tire here, obviously, but I should be able to get that paint SOMEWHERE. Definitely need to paint the pieces on both doors, might consider going back to stock silver on my dash pieces as well.

hmm... in for pics

Pictures below.
The stock radio has a slight color difference from the stock Nickel paint, and as you can see is slightly different from the Nickel I painted with. The photo makes it look worse than it is, I'll get a better one once everything is installed. I took a photo of an unpainted window bezel with the radio, it shows there too. Anyways, here are pics. I'm going to be painting my little SS Badge orange in the middle and putting it back on. Stock Bezel vs Painted. Smaller one is stock. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-1555.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-1555.jpg Stock Radio, Stock Bezel, Part of passenger trim. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-1558.jpg Stock Bezel, Passenger trim. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-1556.jpg Stock Radio, Radio Bezel. This picture looks shitty. Looks better than that in person. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-1554.jpg More to come when fully dried/installed. Joel |

Denlou did you use fm color match paint? If so what did youuse to clear it ?
|
I went to my local auto paint supply store, gave them the GM orange paint code and they mixed some water color up into a spray can ($20), and then I used the brand of plastic primer and clear coat they recommended (also in cans).
Don't let this picture fool you, it's from my Blackberry; In person it matches the outside of the car almost flawlessly (maybe a shade darker), and as glossy as the factory red trim. http://louden.ca/dash.jpg http://louden.ca/dash2.jpg The old car... http://louden.ca/olddash.jpg Sorry to hi-jack your thread haha |

O an your interior looks nice 2  As for the GM color match spray paint, the one dealer couldn't find it, the other dealer ran into the problem before and I was informed they don't ship the spray paint to Canada; So my local automotive shop helped me out. |

Got the trim back in. I need to finish my SS Badge (The painting failed, ended up having to use polish remover to get the crap paint off and it took the white with it. Completely chrome at the moment, looks kinda cool).
Please excuse my very messy car, Canadian winters eh. Anyways, here are some pictures from my blackberry, I apologize about quality. Tommorow I'll try to get some daytime shots with a real camera. Looks brand spankin' new. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-2307.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...10213-2306.jpg Joel |
