4 stupid questions:

1. Are these the correct resistors to stop the stupid hyperflash? Or has someone found a smaller/better option???? COST IS NO CONCERN...



2. Since these resistors get hotter than me watching a stripper... if they are in the trunk by our highly flammable cheap trunk cloth material (which I am sure catches fire faster than my neighbors dog - after I sprayed it with gas and lit it).... has anyone caught on fire? ... Cause slower blinking is not worth fire...IMOP...

3. If you don't care about hyperflash will this cause in the future some kind of code to be thrown or will it simply annoy the fool behind me who has OCD and does not like fast blinkers...

4. Can you stick the OEM bulb in the rear tails and screw the leds..? Or will it burn up the tail lights...or something?

 

1. Yes, those are the right ones.

2. Lol just mount the resistors away from the trunk carpet.

3. Hyper flash won't throw any codes.

4. You can use the OEM bulbs in the reverse lights.

 

Cool, so not better resistor options? Is there any 50W 6Ohm LED Load Resistors sold local like at a Radio Schack or something that anyone has used so I don't have to wait for two weeks ?

50W 6Ohm LED Load Resistors ....these things are like 5 inches....don't they make them smaller ...?? Geez there bigger than my dik....

Those are the kind I use on all my LED tails. Yes they are big and get hot but they do their job wonderfully

 

Ive had a set of those laying on my counter simce last fall, cannot work up the inspiration to install them. Plus idk which two wires to tie em into lol.

Oh and I have led front signals now so surely id need a set up there too -_-

 

Do they get hot everytime you turn the car on? There not burning hot bricks all the time in the trunk are they...?
Or just when you use the turn signal? Etc...

 

Only when the lights are on I believe, def not when the cars off.

My buddy just told me the other day his burned his carpet up becayse guys wrre working on his rear end at the body shop

 

I've grown to embrace the hyper flash. It's kinda convenient for quick lane changes. Definitely grabs attention. I understand that at the same time people probably hate sitting at stop lights with me, but that's ok.

It's easy rice, they go between the plus and minus on the blinkers. On the K2 lights that's the black and red wires.

They only get really hot when you're sitting at a light with your foot on the brake. That's because the same wire powers the blinkers and the brake lights. Think of the resistors as regular light bulbs. They simulate the resistance a regular incandescent bulb causes, and get just as hot in the process.

Okay so let me summarize...
Resistors are hot and can burn and melt ****....(near the rear of a your car where there is gas and battery fumes...people didn't die from the ignition switch recall initially either....)
I save money and I don't have to solder ****...( cause you know those taps are going to come loose and your going to have to solder it)
I can irritate their eyes with hyperflash and their ears with my exhaust...(double positive.)
Hyperflash is not going to throw a code and does nothing harmful to your car in any way....
I'm a lazy azz who is trying to find reasons for not doing it right...??

My first noob move was to cover the resistor with electrical tape so it wont be hot to the touch.... wrong, my car was smelling like burning everytime I was at a light. And then the tape finnaly burned off and I try to take it off...... funny thing, I could lol.... another noob move, I began scratching the tape off the resistors witha knife, paint came off lol. I left it like that. And later got tired of not being seen during the day, went back to halogen bulbs.

 

Idea since you mentioned tape....
How about heat shield tape on the underside of carpet near the resistor?
I wouldn't think on top of the resistor because not allowing it to dissipate its own heat probably is not good or will reduce its life span...

You mentioned "not being seen during the day" did you mean that that the led K2 lights have minimal viability during the day?

 

South Florida here, so is sunny. And my k2 were smoked from factory or from purchased time. Those LEDs were not bright. Night time yeah looks good and everything. But on day time I stand behind the car about 30-50ft and they look dim for me.

 

That's the first time I've heard anyone complain about the brightness of the K2 LED rings! I wonder if something's wrong with your lights. I'm in Colorado (which by the way should have been called the sunshine state, 320 sunny days a year) and it is plenty bright here most days and I have no issues whatsoever...

 

They were working fine, like at said night time they look good, nice and bright. But my complain was on daytime. I would like to try again but without the smoked ones. Regular red lense.
At that time I wasn't thinking of doing a test of one k2 the other halogen bulb, to show it.

 

I also burnt a hole in my carpet from a resistor lol. I wrapped them in heat tape. Been like that for a couple years now and works great.
