ls bumpers

Has anyone tried cutting the fake grills off and putting inserts from earlier ls and LT bumpers in I'm just wondering if it would work

CobaltItaliano 03-10-2012 01:26 AM

Not if your bumpers have the molded-in grilles, and not the removeable inserts. then if u want to cut them out, you can put mesh in instead, but no if the bumper you have now does not have removeable grille inserts, the grille inserts from other base model will not fit, because they need tabs to hold them in, i believe. Buy a SS front bumper with the molded in fog lights if thats what u r trying to get, or get a new base model bumper that can use the inserts you want.

im sure it would work. All the civics have to cut into their bumpers to install their fogs so if you have any buddies with civics ask them how they did it

civics are not the same as cobalts...:r:

like i said above, if the bumper you have now have the molded in grilles, cutting them out will not fit the other base model cobalt grille inserts because they need tabs to secure themselves. If you want fogs, you have to get a new bumper, or buy non oem fog lights and mount them somehow by cutting holes for them or mounting them to brackets.

duh they arent the same im saying it can be done. I have an ls if you get the inserts that have the foglights in them you can fab it up without needing clips, yes it would probably be complicated but if he cant afford an ss bumper or the ls bumper with fogs then that would be an option

CobaltItaliano 03-10-2012 01:44 AM

the fab work alone would cost more than just buying a new, better looking bumper. I have yet to see one member on ANY forum fab his whole base model bumper to fit grille inserts into a molded front bumper. Spend the 3-400$ and do it right

Has anyone cut them out and put mesh grill in?

KitanningCobaltPa 03-10-2012 01:54 AM

Or even cut holes to put projected fogs in that's the main reason I wanted to see if it was doable

znew 03-10-2012 01:56 AM

^^i know c1 c1ra did mesh inserts im pretty sure

KitanningCobaltPa 03-10-2012 02:13 AM

Hmm I may do the mesh and put projector fogs in behind
