i ordered new tails myself. i got ebay led tails. im going to use the ebay outers and the stock inners and get them profesionaly tinted.
will look good and look pretty much like stock lights till you turn them on to show the led ring

leaving the reverse alone makes absolutely no difference in your visibility backing up.

i like em, u need to go that black on a black car - looks good and glossy.

and despite what people say u dont need to sand the tails. just wetsand inbetween vht and clear coat, apply everything right and itll be plenty glossy.

Problem with vht is there's too much black and not enough clear. The darker you go the less visable. When I do mine with base and clear theres are a lot more clarity in seeing the lights then with vht. Just saying. To each is their own

It might not look the best, but having your Reverse lights any color then crystal clear will get you pulled in a heartbeat.

No I did not sand them and I actually had them hanging from a tree when Ii sprayed them.
I did 2 sets of spray. Also when I throw my car into reverse the reverse lights pop out with great visibility so Im happy I decided to black the reverse lights to.

I feel certain tail lights look like **** with the reverse lights cut out. Ours are a good example.

my neighbor had his ion's lights night shaded for over 3 years now and never had to redo them. He did not sand them either. he helped me do mine.

i didnt sand mine either and theyve been good for a year and 2 months now. i just redid 1 coat of clear to get the glossiness back but theyre perfectly fine.
