but seriously though I wonder if using the glossifier would make it look better. I like the white but I wish it wasn't matte white. maybe using automotive clear lol

I see all these plasti dipped cars being done. But have yet to see one being unplasti dipped haha. I can only see it being a complete and total bitch to do. I remember a thread with an Infiniti that did this and he couldn't get it all off so he started trying pressure wash it off and it took some of the factory paint with it in the process.

Doing this looks good from far but get up close and it looks like ****.

I bet your neighbors thought you were crazy, out in the street painting a car with plastic and paper taped to the ground. It looks pretty good, but like stated above i wonder how much of a PITA it will be try undo it when if gets dirty or you get tired of it or when it starts peeling up.

Sorry to "hate"

Not my trend at all. it just furthers the perception that cobalt owners are cheap and don't do things right. Vinyl wrapping I can see. But to plastidip the car...ugh. Not feeling it man. If you like it that is what matters though.

I was thinking about dipping parts of my car, then I saw this lol

Where the hell did you find vinyl wrapping for 500 bucks? My friend's dad had it done in basic black and it cost him like quite a bit more than 500. I'm thinking around $900 -$1,000 and that was the cheapest estimate he got.

well, like i said to each their own, i love it, and it wont be hard to take off, the only reason its hard to take off is because you didnt spray enough of the product to make a nice think layer, otherwise, if sprayed properly, it peels right off like a big sticker. It doesnt look like **** up close at all, it looks just as good in the pictures, its not textured, it dried realy nice, and it doesnt make the car look cheap at all. So everyone is entitled to their opinon, but honestly, i do something not alot have done and alot of people on here have just hated on it, I like it, and thats all that matters. If you saw it in person, you'd change your minds its real nice

As for me, I didn't "hate" on what you did. I just find it to be a cheap/chintzy trend that is blowing up within our community.

When I do anything to my car, I always make sure it is the best of the best, so that's why I have a hard time relating to "dipping" a whole car.

Again.... not hate.... but opinion.

no staged, i totally agree with what your saying and I as well, try and get the best of the best when it comes to modding the car, just a fun project with the dip to see how it would all come out, and I do really think alot of peoples opinon's about the product, and how it looks on the car would change if they saw it in person i am comtemplating on getting the glossifier as well though

lol yeah that subaru owner must be just shakin his head lol, poor dummy.

but heres the thing Tcboalt, I'm not hating on your car, infact, whites my fav. colour on a cobalt.

I'm hating on dip in general. People aren't actually painting things anymore, they're just hosing it down with rubberized paint that chips and looks flat and shitty.

I think your car looks good, infact I love it, but the idea that it was plasti-dipped just ruins it for me, because I know that after the summer its going to look just horrendous.

the plasti dip plague is already spreading to the ATS forum, I wish people would just man up and paint things.

Because of it being white dip? Or what makes you say this?

I had my wheels dipped gunmetal w/ glossifier from Feb - Oct or so and thats pretty much all summer down here in texas lol. the dip looked exactly the same when I removed it as the day I put it on. Well except for one part that I accidentaly sprayed with wd40. that looked weird but it was only noticeable up close

The best use for plasti-dip is the originally intended use. Tool handles. Although the brush on tool handle plasti-dip also makes terrific electrical connection waterproofing.

The stuff doesn't harden like paint, so dust, sand, bugs, they all get embedded in it. Makes the car always look dirty.

Needless to say, I'm also not a fan of the plasti-dip your car fad.
