Oversized Mudflaps?(even D.I.Y)

I was looking at getting some big mudflaps, ones that almost scrape the ground, stick out like two inches or so and ride almost halfway up the wheel well..

I want these because.. winer sucks and I'm sick of the muck and snow getting on the sides of the car, the other day the side of my car looked like a chocolate frosted cake, and I hate hearing little rocks nicking off my doors.

Sooo.. I couldn't find what I was looking for, do you think it would be a feasible idea to get two of those black office waste bins (rubbermaid or w/e) make a template with cardboard, and then cut the flaps out with a band saw? they'd attach with the stock plugs through holes I'd drill in them..

I know it sounds utterly stupid, but in my mind they dont look TOO bad, and I just want them for winter to keep all the **** off my car, because its driving me insane!!!

whatcha'all think? for the winter?

BUT PPLEASSSSEE keeping in mind, that like a condom, its meant to look good, its for protection

Well I have a week off classes next week (Reading week) and I found some sheets of flexible(ish) black plastic in the basement, so if I get some time, I might make them, for two reasons...

1)I'm sick of the mess

2) I just really want to make these for ***** 'n giggles now the cobalts gonna look like one of those rally cars with the massive mudflaps for the winter, I should get a "Hella" lamp rack while I'm at it

Half a Yakima rack and 4 Hella lights would work nicely.
