Powder coat calipers?

If you powdercoat the calipers, will they fade like high temp paint will?

JAYNO20 04-10-2011 04:43 PM

anyone?

Get g2 paint, they offer custom colors.

I've painted mine myself with Rustoleum of all things. It's been on the car for 2+ years including shitty, salty, snow NJ winters and they've actually held up really well. A few little chips every now and then, but I just touch it up real quick when spring rolls around. To do all 4 cost me literally $3  No complaints.

I don't really like the painting idea cause it looks too "globby" plus I heard that powdercoating lasts longer under extreme heat. Any confirmation on that?

I have no "globbing" or fade on mine and it's been 2.5 years. Just my opinion but no one can tell the difference 'til you're literally 6 inches from the caliper.

I used g2, have 1 chip on drivers side that you cannot see unless you get in there and look towards the back and it has been almost 3 years. If you are that concerned and want to fork the money just get them powder coated. Powder coat can chip too just fyi.

I used VHT Gold caliper paint and i've had it on for a little over a year now, I've had no problems with them chipping or fading. Just make sure you clean them really good prior to painting :) and you should be good with whichever decision you go with. Powder coating or painting.

I know it can chip, but does it fade like the paint does? Basically I don't want to have to repowdercoat these things every so often, I want it to be a one time deal.

powdercoating is a one time deal, but you cant powdercoat your brembos without having to rebuild them with new parts after. so powdercoating brembos doesnt come cheap.

No I don't think it will fade, but neither does my paint:guns:
