removing the roof

does anyone know if the roof comes off at all or is it welded on? if it does come up how hard is it to remove?

The roof is tack welded on. The time attack had a CF roof and I heard it was a tedious bitch to get it out. Also by removing the roof you now create a weakness. So you'd probably want a full roll cage if you did.

it can be done with the roof on the car if you have a good carbon guy.

the roofs a bitch to get off and you will more then likely distort and completely ruin the roof getting it off. its spot welded on along with adhesive.

Was thinkin bout it. But not so much for my car. Especially not with the extra work it would require

I don't see why you couldn't wrap it on the car. I've seen vids on YouTube made by a company that sells cf wrapping kits to do mirrors and stuff where they just paint the object wih resin and let it get tacky then lay down the cf mesh and then resin over it similar to fiberglass work. And then they just build up a layer of resin at a time and finish by sanding it and clearing it cutting and buffing and it comes out good. I have wanted to try something like this but had no shop and cf fabric in large pieces like a rood would require is kinda expensive and I'd hate to **** it up and have a fucked up roof and be out the money for materials just to experiment

could you find a cobalt in a junk yard and go from there? maybe they will sell it somewhat cheap? worth a shot.

if you could make something that could be applied over the current roof, it would probably sell.

If u just lay it on top it wouldn't sit right. Require was too much sanding and epoxy. And that's y u need to vacuum mold it so that its smooth. Probly could pick up one from junk yard. But right now its way too big of a piece to do in our garage

idk like i said i have never first hand worked with the stuff. just seen numrous vids where they did just what i said and it turned out very well and they did not use any vacuum molds or anything. they simply painted the part with resin and let it get tacky and stuck the cf cloth to it and it didnt move at all. every vid i saw turned out nice. ive never had the extra money to experiment and im not a super big fan of carbon fiber either. it was pretty cool at first but every tom dick and harry has it all over everything and it became mainstream and lost its apeal to me.

The roofs flat enough to do without using a vacuum bag.

I'm sure u could, but I don't think it would look right. Trimming would b a bitch. It wouldn't wrap around the edges properly. Too many hassles
