Slob on my knob
Slob on my knob
Haha, i did this over the weekend, turned out pretty good. This is the stock knob from the TWM short shifter, it kept getting all tarnished looking.
I sanded it down real good and wiped it off with acetone and then used color matched paint to give it a few coats, I let it dry for a while in the sun and then used a white crayon and filled in the shifting marks, hit it with a hair dryer to get the wax to settle and then wiped off the excess. After all of that i just made sure the wax was off by hitting it very gently with some 2000 grit paper and dropped a couple of coats of clear on it.
Its actually held up pretty nice so far, i was expecting the wax to jack up the clear coat somehow but it hasn't and its been in the hundreds here in Dallas.
Took the pics with my iphone, sorry for the quality.

i powdercoated my TWM shifter knob
white first then yellow(so the yellow was more vibrant, taped off SS then powdered it charcoal grey metallic, then peeled off the SS so its charcoal grey with yellow SS in it then clear coated it, came out awesome heres a pic, it is straitened out now and sorry for the shitty cell pic

Yea that powder coated looks sick man. I just went to a place called English color, took them the gm paint code for the sunburst orange color and they mixed me up 4oz of the paint and injected it into a spray can for me, cost 40 bucks and was totally worth it.
That looks awesome! My hurst knob is starting to knick up a bit in spots...perhaps I'll try this out. That crayon thing with the hair dryer...I swear...where do you come up with this stuff?!
