so i painted my headlights

well both of the headlights i got off ebay have arrived, been torn apart, and painted. i think they turned out pretty sweet but, when i sat them side by side i noticed that the passenger side lens was a bit darker than the driver side. uh oh. i'd really hate to scrap one and buy another to paint so they'd match and i really want to avoid tearing my stock set apart so i was wondering if there was any way i could just buy a lens? here's a pic of the damage, nothing has been put on the car yet...

my step-father says no one would even notice. what do you all think?

Just leave the lens out and use an amber bulb like mine came from the factory...

i can barely tell the difference as it is, and with the lights that far apart on the car, no one is gonna notice.

only way for u to be sure tho is to put em in and see for urself. and remember, no one is going to be looking for the difference unless u point it out

One must be from an SS, and the other from a LS. You could just replace the lens with a non-tinted one if you like, it should fit the same...

I see what you're talking about now. I thought you meant the clear part of the head light was a little darker on one than the other but yea I do notice a slight difference in the orange parts. But I doubt anyone noticing the difference when they're on your car. Maybe you could put some of that tinted film over them and it'd hide it a lot better?

He is referring to the clear lens, not the orange reflectors... In 05-06 the SS lens have a slight tint to them where the base models (LS/LT) do not.

Holy crap, the '07 SS does not have the amber lens in the headlight assembly. Just pop them out, buy amber bulbs and be done with it. It will look better and you don't have to dick around!

I guess Im a detail freak I can tell plain as day a base from a SS headlight by the slightly darker lens . But , with a black bezel it will be much less obvious . Most people wont beable to tell at all . I will look thru my headlight parts and see if I one or the other thats good ...I have a few spares I use for mockups retrofitting . I will shoot u pm if I have a useable one .

^^awesome, thanks!

the orange lenses are the same shade, or so they seemed when i had them taken apart. it's the lens making one appear darker. it's not so much that though. one is all black, and the other has that white outline, that's whats bugging me. i was thinking about looking into buying a new lens for the driver side to match the other seeing how it's scratched to hell but i have no clue where i can find one. i've looked on ebay already. there's a light on there for parts but its the passenger side of an ss.

edit: i decided to just use the lenses from my cars current lights. i was trying to avoid it but as long as they're sealed properly they'll be alright, right? i hope the ss and ls lights are the same size

Leave the orange lenses in them! They look far better with them in IMO! I hope SilverSS/SC has the outer lens for you so they math perfectly if you can figure out how to get rid of the white outline on the driver's side headlight. Great job painting them.

^^thanks!!

i put them in tonight to see if the difference was noticeable, it was but it's hard to see it in this pic due to the lighting...

i ended up taking them back out because of that and also because the light beams are way off. the passenger side was a lot higher than the other side and i wasn't in the mood to mess with it anymore. btw, our lights are a PITA to take out/put back i like them though, hopefully i can get my hands on another lens to match either side.
