Switchback LED turn signal as running lights with load resistor?

I tried looking around, couldnt find anything. Needa know how to wire this up!

Thanks!

You put the bulb in. tap one end of resistor into blue posative for turn signal. Tap negative into ground. If you want to put resistors on the white side as well to protect them. Tap one end of resistor onto the brown parking light wire, and the other end to a ground. The end.

Resistors for turn signals don't "protect" anything, they just mimic the presence of a light bulb to stop the car from thinking a bulb is burnt out. Putting a resistor on the parking light wire will just cause the resistor to get abnormally hot and possibly start melting things or catch fire. Not a smart idea.

Solution: no resistor on your switchbacks and get K2 smoked LED tail lights and don't get resistors.

mines get hot as hell that means i connected wrong??? but the fast/quick blinking when using the turn signal stop....

NCC-2000 09-25-2010 10:53 AM

No that's connected right, but that's why I said connecting a resistor to the parking lights is a bad idea. Yours gets hot when the signal is on, just imagine how hot it would get if the resistor was "on" constantly. Just trying to keep things from burning.

..? So how any way to make my led turn signals turn on when my lights are on? i have resistors. thanks for any help

heathkidder 09-25-2010 11:59 PM

ok so are u sayin noone should get different bulbs or leds cause there 4 you must get resistors to make it stop but ur sayin gettin them is a bad idea so there for my as well not get leds or diff. bulbs period right lol

TommyP 09-26-2010 12:44 AM

No I think he's just saying put the resistors only on the turn signal part.

heathkidder 09-26-2010 12:45 AM

well duh where else would u put it lol or better ? is why put it newhere else

NCC-2000 09-26-2010 11:03 AM

Resistors connected to the parking lights is what the bad idea is, which is what was mentioned a few posts back. Using the resistors on the turn signals, the way they were meant to be used and what they were designed for, is perfectly fine. They are only meant to stop the hyper flashing of the turn signal anyway.

heathkidder 09-26-2010 09:12 PM

so u tap into the blue and black wire correct nuthin else cause i noticed theres red red and black also on the same bulb

RoadconeTuning 10-27-2010 06:30 PM

what about if your switchbacks work fine as a turn signal but the white running lamp does come on... i just tried a set of red led taillight bulbs from vleds as well in my moms g5 and they worked as a brake light but they didnt work as a running lamp...

its as if the bcm sees a "Short" and opens the circuit for that bulb and keeping the running lamps from working

Need help. Installed K2 LED tails and now my blinkers are doing the quick flash. How do I stop this?

TommyP 11-02-2010 05:52 PM

resistors, the same ones you would use for led turn signals. link is in the headlight and tail light sticky.

Thanks!, have some on order w/ heat shields... Until then JDM turn signals baby yeaa

tap the black and the blue wire for driver side and black and the yellow wire for passanger.
for some reason theres a yellow wire on passanger side rather than blue.
