Taking Gen 1's Apart

Can only find info for stock headlights... starting a projectn tommorow on my first gens, have new ccfl halos, new leds, and a ddm hid kit. Question is how long do i cook them for at 200 degrees? not too sure if its any different from the stock ones.

I just used a hair dryer when i opened mine. Make sure you take the screws out on the hold the lens before you start prying.

i've done about 15-20 sets of lights now. i always put them in at 230 for about 8 and a half minutes.

BeradSS 07-01-2011 07:59 PM

what do you guys reseal them with?

TommyP 07-01-2011 08:02 PM

get this

OCI Butyl Rubber Glue - Accessories from The Retrofit Source Inc

works fantastically. And you take them apart the same as stock.

I just used clear silicone.

I pulled my first gens apart to do the CCFL mod as well a couple years back, just follow the oven directions for the stockers. Also don't forget to pull the 3? screws in the back before you bake em.

I resealed with windshield sealant, holds and seals like a mofo but if the time comes to separate you just pull and it comes apart. Also might want to put a pair of OEM lenses on while you're at it, the ones that came on mine were peeling.

I just used the original sealant , just heated it up and stuck it back together

bbrewbaker 07-01-2011 09:51 PM

I took all the gray stuff out of mine.

C_A_D88 07-01-2011 10:28 PM

I left all mine in, no new stuff, ZERO fogging issues

BeradSS 07-01-2011 11:00 PM
