Tinted Reverse Lights NJ LAW?

So I was cruising along yesterday when I got pulled over. I've had my ss for a year with no issues prior to this officer. Long story short, he hands me a ticket for having tint on my reverse lights.
now I don't have the complete light blacked out. The reverse lights are similar to these

Is this valid, being that the actually reverse light is clearly visible? or being that the rest of the light is a reflector that is considered illegal?

Take pictures . Explain to judge. Ticket thrown out. It's close to end of the month it's quota time. Thank officer for day off work and working so hard on busting those bad guys.

Technically your not allowed to modify factory issued lights on your vehicle by state law. But the law also only states that reverse lights need to display white light when turned on. The cop was clearly just looking for a reason to give you a ticket. I would just pay it and move on with life. It'll cost you more to fight it than its worth, and you may lose.

No need to fight it just explain the situation to the judge and be level headed I doubt anything will happen but paying it before your day to be heard is loss .

ALSO TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR CAR BEFORE ALL TINTING.
They go ALONG WAY on convincing the judge your " aren't" tinted.

Thanks for all the insight guys, I am going to question another friend of mine who is an officer and get his thoughts on it. Also I didn't tint them they came on the vehicle when I purchased it. I was leaning towards just paying them the money however if my buddy can vouch I much rather not pay....

I know it's illegal in jersey to tint anything but the back windows.... Gestapo state... I'm surprised we are allowed to do anything to cars these days in jersey.

Well there is no explaining it to the judge but not fighting it. You either just pay the ticket and move on with life, or you take the day off, go to court, plead not guilty, and then have to prove your lights werent tinted. If you get found guilty you have to pay the fine AND court costs. And if youre in a big or busy town/city you may actually have to come back another day to hear the case. So thats two days out of work. Thats a lot of drama for probably a max of a $54 fine.

find a friend with a cobalt who lives near you ( gotttta have one) put his reverse lights on your car go to court they will throw it out.
did you get a ticket or a 24hr fix it?
i got a ticket for my exhaust. i mean its gmpp so its legal. but i have my downpipe which does make it louder.
i was going south cop was going north. meanwhile this night was a night i was at a car meat and we got kicked out of one place so we all went to another and there was people already there so i bailed and went home because cops were EVERYWHEREEE! so like i said i was going south cop coming north he turns around and followed me for about 2-4 miles. i was going 29 in a 30 knowing my exhaust is semi loud so i was nervous hed pull me over. kept my rpms low and he pulled me over. he was like how long have u had this car. i explained he was liek that aftermarket muffler has to go. i was like i bought it with my car. he didnt care. gave me a fix it. next day was veterans day so i couldnt go to the court. but i went to the shop who did my downpipe and had the guy do a visual inspection (charged 20 dollars) than he signed my tix.
brought it to court next day and they were liek alright i see you got rid of the exhaust your all set.
walked out with my gmpp exhaust and zzp downpipe on the car

SO i would try and find a buddy with coupe reverse lights untinted put em on and go to court

good luck
