a guy I race with that does alignments says you have to put it in the alignment machine and tell it how much camber you want and it tells you what shims to put in there then they go behind the hub. I may go that way if Powell come out with a heavier rear bar. The hardcore just isn't as hardcore as I thought it would be. More rear bar and 1* of camber would be nice to try.

Jboogie how much clearance do you have between your front struts and your 255 tires? Do you at least have 3/4 in (19.05 mm/1.9 cm) clearance?
Ohhh everyone good news! I just talked to John Powell he said that they are going to make the XXX bar! He said, "They are in production; material delivers March 18. they will be finished two weeks later" We can preorder now! Just e-mail him. Just google powell raceshop and find him on his site.

nope, the thing that is nearest to the tire is the part that connects the strut to the sway bar end link and clears by 7/16ths (or 11.1mm) of an inch at 1.3* camber. Adding another 1* of camber is going to bring the wheel 8mm closer to the strut and the tire with 4" of sidewall is gonne be even closer than that. Don't remember how to do the math to find out, never took trig. Where the engineers at??
In other words if your going 275s your gonna need some serious offset! and then your gonna contact the fender.

I just don't see the benifit being worth the hastle for a tire that wide unless your running DSP or higher national level autocross car. Not even for a track car.

Your probably right and I might not ever run 275s, I just want to know, I could if I wanted to. Besides maybe 275 is not the best size for a 9 in wide wheel. That brings up a good question. Just because a 9 in wide wheel can fit a 275 tire, wont that make it slightly less responsive? According to tire rack 9in wide wheels can fit 245-275. The cobalt Time attack ran 245s with 9in wide wheels. Do they know something we don’t?

A few pics
Summary:
The +30 in the front is perfect, hard drives through very rough windy roads and no rub up front at all still on mild camber (1.3-1.6* right now 2* coming next week)
The rear is a little different. Very hard cornering it has not rubbed yet but I will know more after the first track day. BUT on big dips a higher speeds the fender lip does contact the tire. That mark on the tire helped me make a measurement and it looks like it would take another 19mm to tuck the tread width behind the fender. If this becomes an issue I'll order some new wheels in a +45 and sell the other 2. I could bring the top of the tire in another 8-10mm with another .5* of camber with some shims but I don't want to do that for clearance issues just to mess up the balance of the car.
The plan is to be fully STX prepped in 2 years, it's gonna be a fun ride

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it! ya, I'm now trying to decide if I want to do a different offset in the rear or just deal with an occasional scrub until I go coilovers. And the road is the blue ridge parkway, the most amazing road I have ever seen!

Tell me if you think I'm on dope for this one. 18x9 with a 255/35 and a 50mm offset. I would run a 20mm studded spacer on the front and be able to still rotate tires after the event. It should fit under the rear with no issues. I know some guy's have issues with spacers but I've run them on several cars over the years with no issues. What are your thoughts?

What about going with a 38mm offset at all 4 corners?....the O.Z. Ultraleggera come as 38mm and seam to fit great....although they are only 8", not 9" like these.

I think 38mm would rub on the front and still not be tucked on the rear. I'm running -2 degrees up front so 30mm is perfect as jboogie found out. I have passengers in the back all the time(sales rep) so getting the rears tucked is a must.
