245/35 in the front, 225/40 in the back?

So it looks like I am not going to have the time/money for anything outside of local autocross this season. As such, I have decided to remain in my low-level STX trim and just have fun. I need to buy new front tires soon (surprise ) and have been debating on adding a little more size up front. Would running a 245/35-18 front, 225/40-18 rear setup create any unforeseen issues? I know the front diameter will be a little shorter (255/35 is same height, but not recommended for an 8" wheel) and this should make the car rotate more, but any others issues/complications? This is my first FWD car so still trying to sort all this stuff out

I could do that, but that means getting 4 tires when I really only need two at the moment. Plus I know some FWD autocrossers like to stagger to get more rotation out of the car.

if you are running wide front tires sure i could understand some stagger but for that minimal of a difference idont see it worthwhile. will it affect anything? probablly not.

Because the type of tire I am running does not come in anything wider than a 235 with a 40 profile...

245 side wall felt pretty squishy to me, 235 just seems just right. I recommend 235 for stock rims just focus on a sticky tire. Also I used to run 225 on the rear but, I finally squared it off with 235s and I prefer it ( especially the looks) lol.

yeah 245s on a stock rim is stupid and still to this day i dont understand why people do it but to each is their own. 235s is the biggest that should be on an lnf wheel.

Well I appreciate the input and that is why I am asking guys. New to the LNF platform and fwd. If 245s are too wide, then just say that

I love my 235/40/18s up front and 225/40/18s in the rear. Runs fine and feels great.

They are fine for larger wheels and will clear with a slight roll. 245s are too wide for stock wheels

Thats a big no. I have 225/40 on SCs and they aren't super happy. Remember an SC wheel is 7" wide, 235=9.25" and 245=9.65" wide so its not in the cards

You don't need to roll the fenders for 245's. I ran 245/45-17's on a 8.5" wide +38 offset rim for 3 years on Tenzo R springs. The front inner wells rubbed for a while until they got wore down. Wanted moar low so I went with 225's up front when they wore out.
