I would rather race fair. I have no plans for a tune yet anyway. Been talking with a friend who does tuning who knows Autox rules and might have him do it.

There is no real reason to have the car tuned yet. Reason being it has more power than most cars in that class, also this is a test year for suspension. Getting some info for all of use that use our cars, maybe a better setup than the well known pedder springs and koni shocks.

Should be fun, I cant wait to see how the cobalt does

Madcity, please keep me in the loop on suspension data. Im running SMF, but still, Im looking for a petter combo than the FE5/eibachs or koni/pedders. Im debating talking to some of my buddies about trying to get a custom set made, but I dunno.

For sure man. If I had the cash I would be going with a custom setup from AST but the KWs with different springs will be clheaper lol.

There are places that will gut stock shocks and struts and thread them for konis or any other brand of threaded coil over and make the shock into a coil over for you.

For me, its a cost thing. Fixing airplanes doesnt pay as great as one would think, haha. Especially when paying off student loans. Im trying to get one of my buddies that works for Penske / JRI shocks to hook me up.

Cobalts going on the scales soon to get a base weight loaded then a base weight where the car would have been for stock autocross.

Interested to see what you weigh in at. On the scales at the Blytheville pro I weighed at 2828 with a 1/8 tank of gas.

Don't forget to unhook the front sway bar before you corner balance. I assume you ARE corner balancing if you're going to the trouble of putting it on scales, or did you mean just like a truck scale?

pedders are better on fe5s then sportlines. sportlines are a total waste.

best bet is the kw variant 2s for now

Right now I'm just getting a base number. When spring comes and the snow is gone I will be corner balancing . Nope I want an accurate number, truck scale not quite right .

No one is competitive when they first start. It takes years of practice.

I really dont hate my sportlines. If I could find a set of pedders cheap enough, Id try them. Not interested, nor can I drop the $1400 for the KW's. id love to, but i dont have that much to drop in the car anymore.

What the hell are you guys talking about 130R and 140???
Scott I am surprised you have not chimed in. You have lots of exp. Or are you following along like I am?
Have to say, there are a number of knowledgable guys on this tread. This one seemed to bring them out. I am even asking one for help with spring rates.

Madcity, great post.

130r and 140 are GM concept cars. the 130R is based on the same chassis as the ATS caddy., and seems like it is trying to be a brz or 1 series competitor.

i may run into some issue with the hypercoil springs. A ruler is not a good tool to measure the spring ID lol. On the KW spring perches with a rulwer they measurelittle more the 2 1/4" and just under 2 1/2". So the Delema, if i go with a 2-1/4 ID spring I can get a 9" tall spring and that will be perfect.

If i go with a 2-1/2" ID spring I cant get a 9" spring, only 10" and 8" springs. 10" wont be an issue for the front as i can move the position of spint perch down. The rear is a different issue. Ill get some pick up later this wee to also show what I am talking about.
