Need To Lower My Seat at least 2"-3" to Wear A Helmet. HELP PLEASE

So a few months ago I traded a 08 LS in for a 06 SS with the Recaro's. I love the seats but for what ever reason the Recaro's sit me up to high and now can't wear my helmet on track in a proper seating position. The LS seats seem to be lower by at least 2 1/2", my head was on the ceiling before but now I have to lean into the sunroof and have it open to fit with the Recaro's. I am looking for a way that I can Keep my Recaro and yet fit in the car when on track wearing a helmet.

Are there any low seat brackets that I haven't been able to find available or any recommendations. I've looked at tons of helmets that are SA2005 cert. but nothing thin enough that I can fit, so now my best option will be to lower the seat or get a different seat, I've been thinking of trading the Recaro's for the base model seat, which I know from past experience I can fit in. But I would like to retain the Recaro's. I've been thinking of having custom seat mounts made, but that will cost me some money.

Please, I ask for help on this, but I'm not interested in any silly responses, just helpful insight please. Thanks guys.

Yes they are already lowered as far as they will go.

I am six for tall with a 30" inseam if that helps to, I cant fit into a lot of cars, Subaru, mazda's. It sucks for me.

I have the seat as low as it will go, and back as far as it will go, when racing I move the seat forward to clicks on the slider so that I am in proper seating position. Even if I recline the seat I am not at a comfortable posture, arms are to straight, which leads to hanging on the wheel when turning. Seat needs to be lower by about 2 1/2". My seat is about 90 deg, keeps your body closer to wheel and gives enough bend to my arms for turning.

It's not the seat, It's the sun roof. Because of the mechanical bullshit for the roof the headliner is about 2 inches lower. Thank god my car didn't come with one.

not to be a dick, but that's exactly the dumb **** responses that wont accomplish any thing for me at all, which makes it obvious that, if being your mentality, you do not drive fast, quick maybe, but a difference none the less.

I am serious guys, I need parts

This is helpful information. What else do you have.

Does anyone know if one could lose 2" or more in the slider or mount. I would like to keep the head liner if possible

There was another thread with this specific question. I believe the answer was to purchase a Sparco seat because they sit a few inches lower and are very affordable.

Wish I could find the thread. I too am 6'5 i have to recline my seat way back to fit in with a helmet on. Eventually I will be purchasing a sparco seat.

A friend of mine is 6'5" and has the same issue with the TC. I'm only 5'10" and can only bring the seat height up about haflway from the lowest position, he's cranked right down, has to severely recline with the seat in the farthest back position and the wheel ends up in the middle of his gauges. The non-Recaro and non-SS/TC seats just seem to sit far lower because in my 2.2 (even being "average" height) I could put the seat height as high as it would go. This car, not a chance, if I put it that high I'm about 1" from the headliner.

My friend has decided to look into a Sparco seat and perhaps some custom rails IF he ever decides to race the car (and then just swap them in/out when at the track and use the stock seats for everyday driving) because no chance is he getting in it with a helmet on today. Why the Recaro and SS/TC seats are so high is beyond me...but I have seen how he sits in the car and can only imagine how uncomfortable you taller people must be.

Think that's the thread someone was trying to find earlier.

i never even thought of the sunroof being a problem. the sparco seats are pretty low, could be your best bet.

im wondering if you could just cut and re weld the legs of the seat to get it to sit lower.

I was thinking the same thing. Could probably just take the seats out yourself and bring the brackets to a welder. It probably wouldn't be that expensive since you'd be doing most of the work yourself.
