Raceline magnesium wheels for Cobalt SS/TC - poll

I spotted this post in wheels/tires forum on cobaltss.net.

Basically a company called Raceline is willing to make some wheels for cobalt ss/tc, probably SS/sc as well if the offset is the same. It's a 9lb magnesium wheel in 17"x7.5" setup, probably 11 pounds in 18"x8". Here is the site link in a 17" format

I've posted a poll so we can track needs cobalt ss/tc ss/sc and 18x8 and 18x9 (for those who want to go a bit wider for 255's or something. We'd need the rim to be out a bit further since the brake lines are already tight to the 18x8's.

I'm not sure if 18x9 would work, but just suggesting it. The guys at raceline need an SS/TC to test on - maybe they can give the tester a break on the price :-) LOL

I have an SS/Sc, so i'd vote for that, but if they're making one wheel size, i'll vote for the TC fitment.

Yeah that's what I want to know. I have a SS/SC, but I'm not going to have it much longer. It goes back in a few months and I'll most likely be getting the SS/TC. I love the stock rims and I'm considering powdercoating gloss black when I get the new SS. But I need a second set of rims & stickier tires for autocross, drag strip & track day's... I'd get these rims if they are decently priced...

i'd also like to know pricing, but it can't be any more expensive than my custom forged ones...

Exactly what I was thinking... And yeah with some nice sticky tires I'd use them for the strip and HPDE's... I did a couple track events with the stock Pirreli P Zero Neros on my SS/SC back when I first got it, and they did ok, but I know I'd be getting quicker lap times with lighter rims, and better tires...

Lol and my next track events & autocross won't be in the SS/SC seeing I'll probably try and jump on a lease pull ahead and purchase the SS/TC...
So yeah I'll be looking into these rims if they are priced alright...

yah, the response has been so high I'm checking to see what the minimum order is for these rims.

I was at the track last weekend and it was awesome. This car is awesome. I'm going to start a poll for a gm stage 1 suspension kit as the car could use some under warranty lower springs would be awesome :-)

No, GM produced magnesium wheels for the 2000-2003 corvette, IIRC. There are quite a few of those on the road. You can do some research on people's thoughts about a magnesium wheel on line that way too.

Not sure if you guys have an idea how much magnesium wheels usually go for. IF you can get a set of 18x8 for 4K USD, it will be a super bargain. May be a bit cheaper ($100~$200 less each) if they are casted.

I'd be in on stock fitment on a TC or the wider ones. Keep in mind the TC is 8.5in standard.

I think the TC stock wheels are 18x7.5, unless by "8.5 standard" you mean something else.

LOL - I pushed on these guys quite a few times, but all I got back was a statement that they were making the 17's not the 18's. With the responses here you'd think they would want to get some on the production line - LOL.

Keep this talk going, I'm going to get race wheels for my car by next autocross season, if this company makes the 18x8 fitment I'll give them my business. Make sure they know that!

whoever is communicating directly with that company put some sense on them. almost EVERYONE here wants the 18's including myself. it's quite tempting buying a set of 9 lb rims, but i don't want to be dicked into buying them cuz it's the lightest rim available for us, then a few months later they come out with the 18's.

18x7.5 or 18x8 would really be nice!
