VIR with Trackdaze in June

I'll be there instructing. Anyone wanna come out? It's $10 to come out and just watch. If you bring a helmet, I may be able to give you a ride, if I'm not busy with students. It's $400 to be a student for 2 days. Best $400 you'll ever spend. You can do a 1 day as well, but I highly recommend doing 2.

Can you give details about how you can go about getting in for a track day at VIR?

The best thing to do would be to visit the Track Daze site: http://www.trackdaze.com

Yeah, I'm scheduled next week to take the class with Mike Skeen and Tom Long. There's a reason why they get paid to race, and I do not

I really wish I could. I've only driven VIR virtually, but man it was a blast when I drove the track in iRacing. If only I still lived in NC, I would jump all over that.

Pro vs non-pro. He waits even longer to brake on the long straights, and gets the car rotated a little earlier to get on full throttle instead of half throttle like I do sometimes. Also, in the uphill esses, he has one turn that is significantly more aggressive than mine. It's the highest lateral Gs that he pulled in my car. It lets him maintain more speed through the rest of the esses, because he's going even straighter than I am.

I was amazed I pulled a 2:13.59 by myself. He ran 2:12.68 with me in the car, and he only drove 4 laps...

The only spots I really caught back time was under acceleration, and that's only because I didn't have a passenger. If you look at how much time I made there, it means he should be running under 2:10 without a passenger...

Maven or John, what was the Georgian Bay car running here?

Btw what did he think of the cobalt? Is he a GM factory driver? Or just a gun for hire? Lol. I know he drives a lot of GMs in his races.

I will look it up, we were restricted to 4500 rpm when we ran the SC cars, it did not go well with the GM racing guys who dictated that to us.
the turbo cars ran less power than bone stock with the restrictor, and the brakes were lsj BBK.
I got brake ducts that work for you to try....email is best

He thought it was a fun track day car, and really fast for a daily driven FWD car. Not too much feedback on the setup, other than it wants to understeer some, so he encouraged even more early rotation. One of his key feedbacks was that I was nursing the throttle into and out of the apex. He gets the rotation done a little early and is harder on the throttle.

He isn't a factory driver. Hired gun is a good way to put it for now. It's a shame the GT-R he is racing full time in WC has so many mechanical (diff) issues. It made him crash out the last race.

I'm extremely glad that I didn't just have him go out without me. I don't think I would have figured a few things out by just looking at the data and video, like how much more aggressive he is with the steering in the uphill esses.

His ability to judge the car and situation, and the rate at which he learns those is just ridiculously fast. Oh, and he's 25. That bastard

I probably need the ducts still, but I don't think my brakes are getting as hot as I thought. A friend of mine gave me the Alcon temp stickers, and I only maxed them out at 370F. Someone else that is running Cobalt Friction pads said they aren't what they used to be anymore, so I may change to another pad.

I need to get some rotor paint too. That'll probably give me a better idea of what's going on. Will email.

Is your time the full VIR circuit> or a partial? I decided to compare it to Lightning lap and I realized that I cant, lol.

Lightning lap must be from a dead stop at the start and your times are laps in motion right?

I usually run VIR Full, which is the normal course. VIR Grand is the one they use for LL. Last fall I was running 3:06, but it should be a good bit faster next time since I've only driven it twice.

New clutch and ZZP short intercooler. The intercooler was for reliability, not for performance, since it's nothing more than extra weight after 2 or 3 laps. Ambient + 35F.

I may try out the Raybestos pads. Hearing good things about them from my track buddies. I've used Hawks in the past, and the only thing I really dislike is how quickly they chew up the rotors, and tend to leave impossible to clean dust/rust.
