I don't know much about tinting, but does it really stick that well when applied in -40 degree weather? I would think the tint would need some time to settle before it would be fully applied

It get's applied indoors... in a well heated shop after the car has had time to heat up to room temperature

Can anyone give me a link, or fill me in on the problem with the dot matrix on the rear window I'm assuming?

hispano1 empty your messages so I can send you a PM about tint

Yea, Its on the rear window, at the top. The problem is with the tint not totally adhering to the window, because of the 'dot matrix'. In most cases some of the tint will adhere, but not all of it! So the places it doesnt stick to has big, whitish looking bubbles. I've even seen it where none of the tint sticks, so all of the dot matrix has a whitish color to it, and eventually starts to peel off.

Oh my god, MaJ work up from hybernation. well MaJ what is it. early spring or 6 more brutal weeks of winter? or are you going to make us wait for that stupid gopher (ground hog day).

I dont mind waiting a little. The car is becoming a big money pit. the tint can wait for spring for me thanks.

Wierd.... I've never heard of this problem before.... Is it only the Cobalt that has it? I'm thinking, my Toyota has the raised dot-matrix on the inside of the window and I've had tint for 3 years and havn't had an issue with it.......... Maybe it's just the quality of tint, or the install that causes the problem...

I've seen a few cars that its happened to. I know it happens to older mustangs, some Saturns, and even my old SHO had the problem. Some cars the dot matrix is only an inch or two, and on others it can be 4 inches plus.

IMO I really dont think the quality of tint has anything to do with it, and without doin the job 'Properly' on certain vehicles, its inevitable. A good tinter can make it look better, but without sanding, gluing, or vinyl, its still gonna be somewhat noticeable.

I work at Park Pontiac.

Thats good to know! I was thinkin maybe Orion, Depending on what happens at Gautier, But now that you mention that, Murray's might be worth a shot.
It would probably make sense for me to just to go to Vickar's (I live in Tcona), But I've heard too many bad things about them. Hence the reason for exploring my options. For me there all about the same distance away.

Hispano was the $240 you were origionally quoted taxes included?? Not trying to step on anyones toes here but if it was, $8.35 doesnt seem like much of a deal for 5 people

Just a comment about the warrenty thing here. MOST name brand tint's have lifetime warrenty no matter where you get it, and I'm pretty sure most shops that do tint in the city do also offer a lifetime warrenty. I even know some offer to fix one window even if you do something to screw it up yourself

Yeah I'm pretty sure my quote and hispano1's quotes were all before taxes. This one is about $205 before taxes, making it a $35-$45 discount. The lifetime warranty also applies to the dot matrix bubbling issue, which some other tint shops WONT warranty. Hope that helps.

thats not really a very good deal for a "group buy" IMO

I went back a page or so and tried to find out where you guys are gettin it done, but I didnt see where.

One other place you should try calling is Wheels in Motion I believe it was.. He did tint for me a couple cars back, and it was a absolute top notch job for 200 cash. He is on WPGHeights so you probably dont even have to call.. His name is NASCAR

He was a dick the last couple times I tried talking to him, but if he does what you need him to do for cheaper, then I say go for it.

I agree with Euter. It should be more like $175 Taxes in. Tint is like next to nothing for cost. it is mostly labour.

You guys started a new list and dropped my name from it. Guess that was an oversight of course I know (meaning not on purpose).

Maintaining list

GMSTAGE 2 for sale. Some of you have expressed interest for it. You know who you are. I am not going to be greedy here. $500 first come first serve. other things can be negotiated - Pulley install. GMS2 Flash. Custom Tune. 2.79" pulley will go with it. I am okay with a wait for cash. but I am going to have to ask for a deposit as I need to make similar commitments and get supporting mods in to make this daily driver still a daily driver. I dont want to go back to stock.

Just to clear things up, the price hispano1 quoted ($205) does not include windshield bar and is for a 2 door cobalt only...

i got my **** done at ming.. i think it was 200 plus tax AND there was a discount at the time to get it to that price, so it is a very expensive place to get tint done.

Seriously though, call Wheels In Motion, you will not be dissapointed with his work or price

I spent the last two nights in the garage (unheated) putting in my stereo, wasn't fun.

It's almost done, fitting in a singel din screen and an additional singe din unit (cd/mp3/dvd) is a pita for fitment.
