No offense is intended at all. Seems like you were a case of "deer in headlights" syndrome.

and just to add, i have been in that kind of situation having a throttle stick on me.
I am just trying to clarify my position also. The roll pin to the shift linkage also snapped therefore I could not get it out of gear and yes i was practically standing on the break and I also pulled the e-break. The car would not stop until it went into limp mode after it hit the RL. Really it does not matter what I did or what the car was doing at the time. All that matters that the situation did not get worse by possibly hitting the cop or causing an accident at that speed that could have taken a life. Yes I was lucky, yes I could have shut the car down but did not think of it at the time but too many things were happening all at once and no it was not deer in the head lights syndrome it was f**k nothing is working now what syndrome.

cheers

OK. For all you formula one drivers that keep bustin my chops. Untill you are in that situation with all that **** going on, yah, you may of thought to just shut the car down but I did not and unless your car is tuned like mine, yes it can hit 148 in the blink of an eye in third gear. If you had read my original posts all the problems compounded one on top of the other (Broken roll pin - cannot shift, Fucked up clutch and slave/throw out bearing, cars to dodge, cop in the midle of road with me barreling down on him) I'm sure you may have paniced a bit also tough guys.

I did not post this so I could be side busted by you so called or pre-professed Mario Aundreties.

My post was just to inform people of the implications of any sort of indescretions you may encounter because you are pissed at the driver going to slow or improper maintenance to your vehicle or just the fact you may have a lead foot and like to drive at excessive speeds, that could lead to the same results and a hole lot of head ackes in the end and that's all.

Yep, speeding is gay.
Never had a ticket in my life.
I am a giant *** because I always put it in cruise in school zones, construction zones, etc.
I've just always thought it was wasted money that could be used for future mods.
Glad it all worked out Larry, and nobody got hurt.

Really? I always thought on most vehicles you had to be doing a minumum speed fo like 60km/h to use cruise control.... on my mustangs anyways lol.....

yeah, i cant say i have never speeded, but i havent in the last two years...

ever since i started supervising in the oilfield, my truck and my license are a huge part of my job and the only way to make money is to keep costs down like insurance and not paying tickets and stuff... gotta keep my clean record lol. Plus when somone else is in the vehicle with me all the time, i dont think its fair to him to risk his life so i can get to where i cam going 10 min earlier....

Here, Here...I absolutly agree with you Cody. I am in the same boat as you, well maybe not as dependant on my vehicle but it would absolutly suck to have to take transit. Ugh

I just dont get it how does your car keep accelerating when something screws up in the clutch. Or did I miss something in the story?

Well...In theory (and I asked the same question). This is what I was told. Our cars are basically run by a computer and at times as we have all experienced one way or another computers **** up and send miss guided signals. Now in saying that, this is what I was told by the Service manager at **** and another mechanic. It was probably an anomally that when I accelerated and the pin snapped on the linkage and with the messed up clutch some how the computer believed that the car was acelerating and kept the TPS thinking that the throttle was wide open (which is possible as everything is run from the PCM). Now remember I said that it was all in theory but most likely what happened.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Luckly you got out of it. I got pulled over for going 155mph in a 65(freeway) with a bottle of jack in the back seat. The officer gave me the test where you look at the pen and I failed even know I hadn't drank and he was laughing so hard that he just let me leave and told me I had I nice car

Wow...Yah you are damb lucky not to have been caught. Here if you get caught doing that kind of speed in a zone like that they would lock you up and throw away the key. Hang on here...was this on a highway? 65 mph = 104 km/h, 165 mph = 265 km/h. I know of a case where the kid was doin 220 km/h on the highway that was posted 110 km/h and I think they are going to throw the book or hit him with it or both. LOL

What's with all the Yankeeeees coming on this thread and bragging about how stupid they are. " I blew the speed limit way more than you!" "LIke OMG Your ***** must be SOO HUGE"

I wouldnt be too proud of something like that, shows a severe lack in judgement.

But you didnt get caught so whats the big deal? Who on here hasn't taken their car on the highway and wound it out? we live the prairies man there's plenty of roads to go that fast and not get caught. I'm pretty sure this thread is for the guys that actually got caught.
