Oil patch is flat out right now. Not enough guys to fill the spots.
Canyon was looking for 70 guys with class 1 licenses in red deer this weekend.
I started my new job in November and haven't spent a single day in the shop. It's go go go go for now, but will slow down for breakup in a few months.
Even though oil is low, all my work is in natural gas and that's been going relatively steady for the last year and is getting busy again.
Last April when breakup came I went to Texas for 4 weeks and trained some Americans. Might get to go again this year, I'm hoping for overseas this time. A bunch of guys went to Saudi and Australia last year.

Last night I was reminded of just how busy it used to be in here;
It used to be that if you only checking in once a day, you were several pages back.
Now the last/current page of this thread (at the time I type this) has posts from December 2016 through to June 2018... and I'm typing this in late July 2020.
RIP Calgary crew

I know one of the locals, moved so he's no longer really local;
Last I checked he still had his car, but most others have either sold theirs, or had it written off.
Thanks for chiming in - from Texas no less!?
I sure wish the borders were open(!) - I have a bunch of car parts sitting at my cousin's place state-side!!

The real reason? Nobody wants to live in Alberta anymore.
