Official Cars For Cancer Thread Signup
**NOTE TO MODS: This isnt a duplicate thread of https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/canadian-mid-west-112/cars-cancer-calgary-ab-54745/ , this is the sign up form so i can get actual #'s to present to the people running the event.**

Hey guys PLEASE post here and PLEASE only once so it isnt a cluttered thread so we can get an actual # of the people from cobaltss.net attending. That way i'll fire off an email to the guys on the website to get us registered. If you want to discuss this event, please talk about it @ https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54745
Also this isnt Calgary exclusive. For all you Edmontonians (Edmontagonans? Edmontagins? wtf ever you guys call yourselves) plz read:
and there is talk of the RCMP doing an escort for everybody involved in this from Edmonton to Calgary.
This is going to an EXTREMELY good cause guys, August 26th is far away so that is AMPLE time to book it off now, and its only $30. Plus you can get a pledge form to raise more money, and if your friends wanted to come down its only $5 for them to view.
Again this is a great cause, cancer impacts everybodies lives. I had an uncle and an aunt get cancer and its a high risk in my family, and my girlfriends family.
Also we will be representing cobaltss.net if there is enough interest (I hope to see 10-20 cars, thats 300-600 on just our entry alone! not including pledge sheets + inviting friends to come view the show) so PLEASE drive responsibly. If possible pick up a set of cobaltss.net stickers @ https://www.cobaltss.net/decals.php
If you dont want to apply stickers to your car though, you dont have too! We're not forcing anybody w/ that AT ALL, but its just a thought.

The date is Sunday Aug 26 2007 at 9:00 am at McMahon stadium in Calgary.
Start Time and location of Cruise
FOR THE EDMONTON & AREA PARTICIPANTS ONLY:
IKEA PARKING LOT
South Edmonton Common
1311-102 St. NW
Edmonton, Alberta
T6N 1M3
Time of Departure: 6:00 am SHARP.
Please arrive between 5:00 am and 5:45 am to organize into your various car clubs and or individual cars.
I will be there shortly before 5:00 am.
I will also post up locations with fuel stations, and eating establishments in the area.
Details on the cruise from Edmonton to Calgary:
6:00 am Leave IKEA parking lot south exit. Travel down 102st NW until it turns into 13Ave NW.
Turn Right on Parsons Road. (there is a stop sign here)
Follow Parsons Road untill we hit Ellerslie Road.
Turn right on Ellerslie road (There is a stop sign here)
Follow Ellerslie Road untill we get to Calgary Trail
Turn left on Calgary Trail from Ellerslie. (There is a set of lights here)
Proceed to Gasoline Alley in Red Deer for those that need a refuel and a very quick bite and have a 20 min stop.
Estimated arrival time is 7:30 to 7:45 am
Proceed south to Calgary
Arrive at Calgary city limits at approx 8:30 to 8:45 am.
Follow the deerfoot trail to Memorial Drive NE.
Turn Right and head West on Memorial Drive NE and proceed to Crowchild Trail NW.
Turn Right on Crowchild Trail NW and head NW untill we hit University Drive NW.
Turn Left and head NW on University Drive NW.
Turn Right at MacMahon Stadium and enter on the West side parking lot.
Memorial Drive is a scenic route and runs alongside the river. This route also has the least set of lights and minimal traffic impact. It is mostly freeway.

It is with deep regret that i am going to have to abandon spearheading this evenet, if somebody wants to take it over, please do so! It is for an excellent cause and i will likely participate, but right now my personal life... welll to put it simply... is a huge cluster **** and im trying to get things under control again (thats why i've been off the forums for awhile)
So I hope cobaltss.net can still represent with this, it looks like there is ample interest.

I have not registered yet but I will be by next week.... I am trying to connect with the Event organizer to see if we can get a spot set aside for us etc. Will keep people posted as I have new News.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
So I've spoken with one of the local Organizers - here is the scoop:
1) Are there still spots available and are we able to register as a group?
There are still spots available... Group registration is not an option due to the shear response this event has had... As such they are suggesting that anyone interested register as an Individual.
If you are collecting pledges please contact James Foster @ 303-3532 - he is the contact at the Cancer society and will arrange for you to get a copy of the pledge form (this is to ensure no fraudulent canvassing occurs).
2) Aside from the Edmonton trip to Calgary is there any plans for a drive throughout Calgary?
There is a planned departure from McMahon stadium driving north on 16th Ave to 22 X then trough Cochrane and back to McMahon via Crowchild (aka Highway 1A). This trip will be RCMP escorted and they have arranged to block one lane of traffic for the procession on the highway.
3) With a group like ours are we able to book a specific spot so we can all park together?
Due to the shear volume of participants they are unable to block off specific spots as such I asked him if we would be ok to bring like 2 pylons and rope and rope off a few spots for our cars - he said sure thats fine - someone would have to be there early to do this though - ANY VOLUNTEERS?
**On this point DOES ANYONE HAVE ACCESS TO LIKE A BANNER MACHINE or Large Printing or something? I was thinking we could really plug the CobaltSS site but putting a banner infront of our group of cars or hell if someone was really abitious and wanted to do one by hand that could work too... (thoughts?)**
So thats the news so far... What I would like to do is get a list of everyone who has already registered and those who have not and set things up further from there to fully coordinate this.
