Should I buy a trailblazer ss?

So I'm looking at a 2006 trailblazer ss. It's awd, fully loaded and black. Has 82000kms on it. Dealer is asking 21000 to start. Does this sound like a good deal? Let's say I can squeeze 1500 to 3000 off the staring price, would that be a good deal?

Now I've got a 2008 sedan sport, black, 41000kms and I've got 2 years and 11 months left owing on it at 0% at about 350 a month. The dealer looks like they will give me between 10000 and 11000 for a trade, still means I'll have to eat between 1500 and 2000 off the car. Does the trailblazer taking into account my trade in still seem like a deal?

I guess I want to know cause I've always loved those ss and having an suv and awd not to mention loads of power would be sweet. I just don't want to do something I might regret later on. Thanks for any help and insight you have.

I'd stick with the cobalt personally, not that I don't love the TBSS but I'm not spending money at all right now.

Come on guys, I was hoping you'd be a little more help then 1 post.

I just recently traded in my 2009 SS on a 2006 Trailblazer SS. 3SS package, every option that was possible from the factory with 55000 Miles on the ODO. Picked it up for 20500, which in my opinion was a good deal.

I couldn't be happier, the interior of the TB is SO much better then the Cobalts was, it's just as fast as a stock SS/TC and with a few mods it has great power.

The only thing that sucks is the fact that I only get 12 MPG

Heres mine:

They are great trucks, just don't expect it to handle and brake like a Cobalt.

Fuel economy also sucks, but if you don't travel far its not too big of a deal I suppose.

Shit the TBSS breaks almost faster then the damn SS/TC did  Those brakes are touchy!

Also, it handles quite well for a 5000 lb SUV.

Very nice looking man! I wish I could find one in white, sick looking is all I can say. Your 55000 miles is around 88000 kms so I guess I'm looking at pretty much the same thing you bought. I have a feeling that I can get this one for under $20000, which is even a slightly better deal then yours. I have not been able to sit in it or drive it but I've walked around it and it looks in good shape. I'll be taking it out for a drive today and will likely make a decision later on. End of the day I am sick of fwd and no power lol. I'd like the awd for the winter and the V8 for the summer. Guess me driving will make the decision.

Here Ill give you a straight answer.

No.

If you need a bigger vehicle to pull stuff or get through the snow buy a truck.
If you want to go fast and have performance buy a sports car, muscle car, sport compact etc etc

I know a lot of people on this site really like The TBSS but I can't stand them, same with any of those high power SUVs like the Cayenne, X6M, Hemi Durango, etc etc

You are on a Balt forum so most will say no. Go ask on trailvoy.com and most will think you were stupid to have ever bought the Balt ;)

JL-KA 10-05-2011 03:01 PM

SRT8 Jeep>TBSS
But that seems like a decent deal.

Black Napkin 10-05-2011 03:11 PM

i say go with the srt-8 jeep or the ford lightning. my order would be
srt-8
lightning
TBSS

blacksssc05 10-05-2011 03:12 PM

had a tbss loves its gas, got around 13 mpg on the highway

csa1982 10-05-2011 05:35 PM

I also love the srt-8's but those guys are a little more up in canada to the tune of 25000 to 40000 used so that is out of my ballpark. A ford lighting would be very nice but a reg cab/2wd is a no go during the winter up here. I'm heading over to the dealer in a couple hours so I'll see where things go.

abyan 10-05-2011 11:33 PM

I have an SS cobalt and a loaded Envoy SLT I6 4X4 (family vehicle, same thing as TB), and I love the Envoy in the winter and the cobalt in the summer. I live in the Edmonton area like you so I know what it's like for winter. That being said I have thought about upgrading the Envoy to the TBSS but I'm not sure I would like an SUV without true 4X4 with 20 tires and that much extra power (mine is auto 4 and 4X4 on I6). That and fuel economy would be my main concerns. If that doesn't bother you then go for it.

SRT-8 used = 35000 USD+
Trailblazer SS used = 19000 USD+

I looked everywhere for a decent deal on an SRT-8, Shit ones with 100k on the ODO were still going for nearly thirty thousand. Not worth it IMO. If i'm spending 40k on a car i'd buy a new evo
