HAHAHA good luck buddy... I think there is only one or two tires that fit our stock rims... and they are rather pricey.... I work at a parts store and at my price I get them for minimum 215 a tire... so best bet.. smaller steellies with a lower rim size!! Our stock size is 215 45 18 Z rated tires

yeah I was gonna have to e pimp slap you for saying such things. but yeah they dont make many tires in the stock size. if you're thinking of buying new wheels eventually you might as well do it. if you can find some with our bolt pattern you like.

haha... yeah.. I've gathered... I'm just gonna buy a cheap truck or something for the winter and store my car since I don't own a garage and to have parked insurance it needs to be inside a garage.... I figured it'd be cheaper and I'd have less chances of breaking her!

The 16s wont work with our cars since they are a 4 lug and we have a 5 lug. Correct me if Im worng please.

My plan is to either get the steelies off a HHR or just buy a truck for the winter.

I don't know exactly which model, but I think there are some 16" steel wheels from a Saab that will fit.

I have lightly used winter tires with 16" steelies for sale, cost me $1000 trying for 800. Used only for 5-6 months.

PM if anyone is interested.

well ive been having a bit of trouble with this situation myself lately

i was curious about picking up some winter booties......
heres the short story

First off, canadian tire guy told me ( with a straight face) that because my current stock pirellis are a W speed rated tire, that he could only sell me Winter tires that are W speed rated...............

...................

...................I waited for the punchline too.......there wasnt one.......

Ok so i call tirecraft......they explain that the 5X110 16 inch steelies arent to common, which is why some places are having trouble getting them.....

He quoted me 1200 for the cheapest steel and cheapest winter rubber he had
(BLEH!)

Kaltire Quoted me $780 which was more reasonable......

but to be honest, I drove on 17 inch low profiles in my sunfire for 4 years.....and ill be doing it on 18s from here on out if i cant find something cheaper

btw.....16 inch steelies are onsale at walmart and canadian tire right now for $55

but ours? the wonderful **** sucking 5X110 pattern? a nice healthy $90 a rim

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

/end rant

Hmmm... our tires are Z rated, aren't they?

Edit: I checked. They're W rated. My bad.

either way, he was telling me my WINTER tires had to be rated as following

While Z-speed rated tires are capable of speeds in excess of 149 mph, how far above 149 mph was not identified. That ultimately caused the automotive industry to add W- and Y-speed ratings to identify the tires that meet the needs of new vehicles that have extremely high top-speed capabilities.

W 168 mph 270 km/h Exotic Sports Cars

Yes. because everyone knows i will be tearing my cobalt down the whitemud in january at 270km/h.......
