Angry Urgent Help Needed - What to do with my Dead Balt

Hey so been around for a long time and been trolling the site keeping tabs on things; I used to be a lot more active when I first got my balt back in 07.

Anyway as those long time members that are on my FB know last week my balt was in an accident and the insurance finally has called me and given me 24 hours to decide on how to proceed.

Basically they are offering me a full write off or I can buy the balt out at 18% of the write off value... the only reason I'm considering this is cause of the work I've put into it. I've worked hard on her and she has a GM Sport Exhaust, interior underglow kit, custom gauges, full window tint, torque dampner, CAI, Custom (done by me) tail lights, rear apline type s speakers, Halo gen 2 head lights,

Anyway I guess my question to the group is how is the current market right now for part out sales; is it worth while to try, have the car sit in my yard making a mess and try taking things off it to sell off or does it just make more sense to take the buy out and walk away?

I need some feedback and honest feedback only please; I wish she was repairable but I dont haae the time or the $ to spend.

IF YOU CAN PURCHASE THE CAR SAY TO 2K ITS WORTH IT. Because then you can actually sale the parts and come out high on top and you wouldnt have wasted time. But all in all its your say.

buy it. its a great parts car for if you get another one. can be driving another ss while slowly building a motor and have spare parts for break downs or whatever. may even part out and get some extra cash. but its your decision. me personally. i would almost always buy the car back for cheap. i did it to my old 97 corolla when a woman rear ended me and did ~4k of damage. bopught the car back for 1.8k, fixed it for 900 at a backyard body shop(well known for good cheap work) and came out with 1.4k in pocket after buying and spending the money to fix it. used as a beater, it drove great other than wearing back rear tires, just had to rotate frequently

If you don't have the money to buy another car or if you don't have a beater or backup car, take the check and forget about the car. You should be able to remove your aftermarket parts, as long as you have stock replacement parts to put back on.

^^ although I agree whole heartedly, I also know that he's at a cross roads...

his shell could help me.. and then if he buys another LSJ Cobalt, he has a spare motor to monkey with

@ OP;
do what you think will be best, if dealing with the car stresses you out in the slightest, take the payout, and be done with it...

Honestly looking at that I’m worried about the frame being ruined, It might be best to cut your losses and just take the insurance money. Sorry for your loss man

His might be - but mine is fine...

the back on the car I have here isn't so great in the rear;
generally that's what will happen when a compact car comes into contact with a three ton truck...
