USB Radio

Hey does anyone have a black stock USB radio they are looking to sell? Local or not is fine, thanks.

Thats too bad cause I'd be interested. I've got my stock silver one from my 08, 6 disc with aux but no usb. I'm hoping to find a black 6 disc with usb to replace it with but they seem hard to come by.

^^ Yeah tell me about it.

Also from what I've read, I should be looking for an 08+ and it should be the same model i.e premium sound as what I've got. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

I thought the USB radio replaced the 6-disc radio??

I cannot recall ever seeing the two being combined...

@ csa1982 - if you didn't realize it, the black face radios are 2010 only.

No ****, I had heard the GM was only placing black in 2010 but I didn't realize that the USB replaced the multi dice changer. I guess I can see why though, I should still be able to place an 2010 USB into mine though as long as its programmed by the dealer right?

As far as I have understood yes you can have a 2010 radio work in your car.
the 2009 & 2010 USB radios are exactly the same except for the black face.

If anyone has swapped a black face on an earlier radio, it's only becasue the faceplate has a degree of interchangeability;
as of this time, the only way I am aware of identifying a 2010 Cobalt SS from a 2009 RPD equipped Cobalt SS are the following;
  • highrise spoiler = 2009
  • any interior other than all 'ebony' = 2009
  • Rally Yellow = 2009
  • Sport Red Tintcoat* = 2009
  • Crystal Red Metallic* = 2010
  • black radio face = 2010

* = although I have seen SRTC, I cannot be sure I've seen CRM.

So if it's an RPD equipped, low rise spoiler car with ebony interior - in a colour used on either year, the only remaining way of distinguishing is via the radio.

^^ Well I'm at the dealer today, so while I'm there I'll see what they charge and what their thoughts are on the matter. End of the day I just want to make sure my 08 will take another 08 or up radio before I buy one.

it will, they should have a flat rate to "unlock" the radio;
all that matters is that the radio can communicate with the BCM.
