Canada Need help with a SS/S cobalt

Alrighty so basicly my cobalt SS/SC has been trouble since I bought it first thing that went as soon as I bought it was the clutch and clutch assembly fine so I replaced it after I had codes popping up for cylinders 2 and 4 miss fires witch was odd to me along with a cam sensor and crank sensor code going I replaced both drove fine for litteraly 1 day after that I had enough brought it to my mechanic and asked him whats up he said looks like a wiring problem so I bring it to a GM dealership because I have a SAL warranty so they look at it and they say it was the MAF so I replace that then they found it was the Cat converter so we replace that under warranty even before that and after that I had slight idle problem going up and down thought nothing of it , well one day im driving I smell burnt oil so I go to the nearest gas station put oil in it burning smell stops runs fine drive it for a day . next thing you know im at work and the car wont turn over first thing I think is **** the engines seized so I call the tow truck and tow it to GM all free up to this point , come to figure out it was a lose battery cable so they turn it over and notice misfire at idle they said its not the injectors or the plugs and they say its either a burnt seal or a piston ring or a hole in the piston they do a compression test and then they said they don't believe its a seal because apparently its leaking past the piston ? well I think that's strange wouldn't that mean its leaking past the seal so bassicly they wanna charge me 1600$ to pull the head and put it together nothing fixed . I am alittle machincaly inclined and for that price ill take a chance and do it myself . Oh and to boot the engine was replaced a GM 16,000kms ago and so was that cat converder for the first time . IF there are any cobalt specialist's in the Maritimes please let me know also would like to install stage 3 zzp kit with good tune adventually please HELP

1. Had codes for misfires on 2 and 4 -replaced cam and crank sensor
2. Dealer replaced MAF
3. Dealer replaced cat
4. One day smelled burned oil - added oil
5. Soon after car wouldn't start - towed to GM - was a lose battery cable - dealer still seeing misfires.
6. Did compression test and dealer thinks it's leaking past the piston
7. Dealer want $1,600 to pull the head and put it together nothing fixed

Man needs help. Maritmes area. Wants to know if he can do it himself.

Just a thought, how old is the battery. Several members have reported misfires due to weak/old battery.

Did the dealer give you the results of the compression test? Numbers by cylinder?
