The Metro News said it was a 25 year old from Cumberland County area I think.. When I read the article I assumed Dezzie as well haha, but then saw that and didn't think he fit that category lol.

Wonder what kind of Cobalt. As some of you already know, stomping on it in 4th gear at 120kmh in a tuned SS turbo will get you pretty close to 200kmh quickly. It really doesn't take you long to get into speeds that will impound your car if caught.

its a generalized law. basically anything that causes other drivers to take their attention off the road and to look at you is called stunting. a slight chirp of your tires is stunting, underglow or any other external modification is technically classified as stunting as well

the states is worse in regards to that and actually started the 50 over bullshit. here in alberta they don't technically have it but you still don't want to be caught doing more then double the speed limit.

don't quote me on it, but I believe anything over 80MPH is considered reckless driving. And the more faster above the speed limit you go, you just get more points...

i know British Columbia and Ontario have the 50km/h and above you are classified as racing and automatic suspension and if its severe enough they will crush your car.

So does alberta, they dont advertise it like in ontairo. Where as every km down the road is that brown sign telling you the penalty.

Thats weird the cop went after him. I talked to a number of police in halifax and here...they all said the same thing, if the person is going 180+, they cant go after them, they can call in to units up ahead (which is what im guessing happend) or call in the helo's. Thats why i can fly past a cop at 200+ on my bike and they do nothing (not saying i do that..lol)

thats the first i've heard of the racing classification for going to fast. i know double the speed limit is automatic license suspension and mandatory court date, and huge fines for less then that. i got 2 tickets one for 20 over and one for 30 over the limit and they came to just under $600. almost got caught doing 100km over once. luckily buddy was already with someone and only gave me a tint ticket lol

yes i speed i admit it.

Definition of “stunt”

3 In subsection 163(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, “stunt” means any of the following actions:

(a) attempting to lift all or some of a vehicle’s tires from the surface of the highway, other than when using lift axles on a commercial motor vehicle;

(b) attempting to spin or circle a vehicle without maintaining control of the vehicle;

(c) driving on the portion of the highway designated for use by oncoming traffic for longer than necessary to overtake 1 or more other vehicles;

(d) driving with a person in the trunk of the vehicle;

(e) driving from a position in a vehicle other than the designated driver’s seat;

(f) driving 50 km/h or more above the lawful rate of speed;

(g) driving without due care or attention, reasonable consideration for others on the highway or in a manner that may endanger other persons, including any of the following:

(i) driving in a manner that indicates an intention to prevent another vehicle from passing safely,

(ii) stopping or slowing in a manner that indicates an intention to interfere with the movement of another vehicle,

(iii) driving as close as possible to another vehicle, a pedestrian or a fixed object,

(iv) making a left turn at an intersection controlled by traffic control signals immediately after the signal facing the vehicle changes to solid green and before a vehicle that was stopped facing a red light in the opposite direction is able to proceed straight th[r]ough the intersection.

Thats from the NS Regulations ... so as stated above... modifications are not stunting... atleast not here in NS anyways.

the one and only time i got caught street racing was against a GT-R, just outside of Calgary. Cop came after me cuz the GT-R floored it and got away....at that point that is, he got caught a few km's down the road. Cop nailed me doing 189 in a 100 zone. We had a nice chat after i fessed up. He gave me a $355 ticket and 4 points, he suggested i go to the court date and talk to the prosecutor, i got it reduced to $177 and 2 points (just found out my insurence company doesnt care about it, my insurence dropped $600 with that ticket on my record..lol.)

But yea he told me that law is in effect but they dont advertise it, nor do they really enforce it that much unless they know the person was acting stupid. For example if there is a 70 year old grand mother going 50 over in a buick for some reason, they wont charge her for racing. But if some 18 year old kid with a riced out honda civic did the same, they will charge him with racing. It all depends on the cop and your atitude. I was polite and fessed up to the cop so i got off lucky. Funny thing was i read the news paper that week and it said "Calgary police had a high record of speeding tickets this long weekend, including a grey sports car that was caught for doing 189kmh, 89kmh over the speed limit" Ironically, my Sgt. read that as well and when i told him i needed to go to court in calgary and needed the day off, i got a blast of **** and had to use one of my annual leave days to do it..lol.
