I was driving at about 10 kms and shifted from 1st to 2nd gear and car backfired in between the shift. figured it was quite strange as it was such a low rpm shift as my wife and I were driving through the neighborhood looking at a few houses listed for sale.

Well after that happened my engine light was on.

Being a guy who restores and customizes cars I have an OBD I-II and I plugged it in and I was able to clear it but the code was for a #3 cylinder misfire.

Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cause? I apologize as I am quite green when it comes to newer turbocharged 4 bangers as I usually work with V8's and classics.

 

I personally haven't had my CEL come on. Maybe your tune? But if the car seems fine don't worry to much about it. My car backfires all the time shifting between 1st to 2nd.

 

Yeah not too worried as it drives fine just a small back fire as the rpm's were dropping between first and second shift that made the engine light come on I guess. I guess I was just worried as I know there is an issue with wires shorting causing these #3 cylinder misfires as well. I reset the engine light and a week later everything is still good.

Nope, I take the #1 between 200th and 104th everyday.

I read the post and that sucks! I haven't had an issue since but I have had it give off a small backfire once before at low rpm when switching between gears but this was the first time it showed the code or engine light.

I wonder who that is as it is a 2 door, white, 2008 - 2010 SS/TC that I see every few days pass me on Nordel Way at about 7:30 am.

 

I have a weird CEL... Was driving DT last night and parked my car. Came back not even 5 mins later and fired the car back up and the CEL was on. Guess it's time to take it to the stealership. Just bought the car too, 06 SS/SC with 40k km.
The car was running and driving fine too which is weird to me.

Been busy haven't had a chance to get on.

Got my codes scanned and they turned out to be:
P0069 map x2 (one pending)
P0121 tps
P2138 tps

Haven't called the dealer since they told me 150+tax to scan the car. Its weird the CEL only comes on when gas is at about 1/4 tank. No other times does it really come on- well it hasn't yet. Car has 40k km so there's no way those sensors could have worn out already... Is there? Gotta love it car threw CEL second week I own it.
Anyone had this issue? I've searched and nothings come up really. No ones posted their solutions.
