Anybody in Surrey??

Hey. so here's my situation.
i got a flat yesturday and have a spare on right now. No tire shops will repair it because there's not enough tread.
so, i need to buy new tires which i dont have the money for right now.

wondering if anybody in the surrey area would have an extra junk tire laying around that i could grab cheap off you; either this evening or tomorrow. i need that spare off so i can make it out to work and school next week.

are ur tires like bald or something? i went to a local mechanic shop and they plugged one of my tires for $15 and it only had like 20-30% tread left on it.

But if its basically bald then i can see why not because the plug would just get ripped out if theres no tread protecting it

Tire shops cannot legally repair tires that are below 25% tread (iirc). As soon as they take it off, they cannot put it back on because of the liability.

guess i was just above that limit lol. Too bad you have 18's, i got my old pirellis in the basement, one basically full tread left on it, but they are 17's

also plugging tires is not technically legal for a shop to do. tires must be patched from the inside. also if the puncture is in the sidewall, or very close to it it cannot be repaired.

if you want to try plugging it yourself, you can get plug kits from canadian tire.

thats something i would have done only they said that with a plug and the little amount of tread there is i risk exploding the tire on the highway or something. i make 4-5 trips from surrey to abby a week and i dont really want that to happen. i think im just gonna go with a cheaper set of tires. i had know clue how expensive the pirelli pzero rosso tires were. they're like $450 a piece.

Sharkey 04-05-2009 01:40 PM

yeah he probably went to the stealership.... thats where i went to get mine they quoted me 500 a peice...

vancity racer 04-06-2009 11:47 AM

well i didnt really shop around for a good price on those tires. that was just a quote i got from Big O Tires on Fraser in Surrey.
im gonna go back to the dealer and see what i can get cuz i only bought the car 2 months ago and now i have to replace the tires. I think the tires were junk when i got the car, cuz ive only put 5000km on it, mostly highway driven and the warn out tires are on the back.

I donno, i think going to the dealer is worth a try, and if not then ill probably go with a cheaper tire than the pirelli rosso

_UnLiMiTeD_ 04-06-2009 02:13 PM

they more then likely wont do anything, because you bought the car with crappy tires they will say its your problem. If they were that bad you shoulda requested they replace them before buying the car

well heres the result. I got two brand new tires from the dealer. not the best ones but still free. lol
