Trifecta Tunes...

My friends 08 LNF went into Chevy for a warranty head gasket job, they replaced it everything went well. On the test drive the computer locked them out via security. So try toyed with the computer. Fried it and replaced PCM. Will trifecta take in the new PCM and flash it again? Or will he have to buy the tune again? No he does not have the cable.

He doesn't have the old PCM obviously because all was performed and destroyed then technically fixed via warranty at Chevy. Obviously Chevy won't buy a tune

As long as the VIN is the same in the ECM he won't have to send it to Trifecta, he'll just need to borrow/rent/buy a cable and upload his tune. He won't have to buy a new tune.

At the dealer they have to write it with the cars vin in order to work, your friend just needs to reflash his tune, but wait an oil change before flashing it.

That's true to a point.. they are "supposed" to do it that way. I've had more than one customer with a wrong VIN ECM. Freak occurrence, but it happens.

I thought the PCM had to match the vin in order flash.

its called "as built Data" when a PCM is dead and unreterivealbe they have as built data to flash the PCM. ti will have the VIN. but yes the VIN needs to be the same but since they most likely did this it will.

We had 2 customers with LNFs a while back that had the ECM replaced and we just couldn't get the tunes to load. We checked the ECM info in EZFlash and it showed a different VIN. It was really weird.

Why is this in vendor reviews? Should be in LNF engine or something.
