if he hit those times... they were... you dont just magically hit a 14.1 just by driving well, you have to hook up EXTREMELY well

someone please call BS just to be a dick, i saw it with my own 2 eyes

Go Cobalts with LSD!!!
I believe it's possible because the biggest limitation seems to be traction in first and second. A little Formula V on the tires will do the trick.

WARNING: Formula V will reduce the life of a tire! (But then so does racing.)

you dont need the airbox mod to run a 14.1 i ran an 11.85 in the 1000 foot which is app. a high 14.0, all i have is a different muffler, stock piping

See , the driver mod really does work Nice times , I would have to say that LSD didnt contribute 1 ounce toward that 14.1 .

An air filter is considered a mod for a n/a car. As well as any other car, even more for a fi car. I do not know how you can call that stock. Wrx's can get up to around 25 hp from just an intake. While cobalt ss's isnt as high it is still added power and throttle

yes, throttle response is greatly affected by the extra air flow, it may not add HP but it does ad responsiveness

I still say nice times for being close to stock and that is a really nice trap speed. The LSD did not have anything to do with the 1/4 at all. LSD is for the turns, not the straight. So please refrain from saying that. You are making yourself seem clueless by repeating that. And it's not proven anywhere that LSD results in faster times.

first night ever at the track, i did run 14.215 @ 100.51 bone stock with no air filter swap or anything. and btw, the only thing i did was replace the stock filter with a different filter, the box is not modded its still the same as it came from the factory minus the filter that was in it. dont really feel a cheap ass replacement oem filter is considered a "mod"

it was.. "replacement oem filter"... to me that sounds like a regular filter-must have replaced the 'stock' one when it got dirty

Jeeze people, quit argueing on whether or not it was "stock" and congrats the guy on running 14.1.

What next? Are you going to argue that because someone did an oil change and used Royal Purple Synthetic and a Mobile oil-filter that it's not stock?

Contrary to popular belief, a LSD DOES help w/ 1/4 mile track times.

The reason why is because our cars are not perfectly balanced (w/ the driver in the car) left to right. The driver's side front probably has ~950lbs while the passenger side ~800lbs. With that much weight difference, it makes one tire easier to spin than the other; therefor the LSD DOES come into play.

If the air filter really doesn't do "****". Then why does everyone and their sister spend close to $200 on it? 10-15 HP is a mod any way you look at it.

A GREAT TIME THOUGH!!!

wtf i have stg 2 + mods listed and i ran a 14.29 @103 with a 60' of 2.46 ... although the track i run at is awful. Its problably one of the worst tracks you could go to, its almost going uphill and the track prep is .... uh... there is none.

wow this cracks me up... people who get mad at saying that car wasnt stock are just jealous. Just get on wit your own life and live wit the fact someone got a 14.1 (almost) stock. not that hard to comprehend.
