Conti2 Tire Pressures

first time running a fwd car and the street has proven that these tires do not like aggressive launches so had anyone found a good pressure for these things on a stock car? im just hoping to see 2.2 60-fts on these turds at the track i plan to run at tonight.

I've heard of people running at around 26 psi in the front and normal pressure of 33 psi in the rear.

21 psi in the front, and 60 psi in the rear.

Playing with pressure probably won't help you much at the drag strip. The combination of rearward weight transfer on launch, the high effective torque (power) being applied to the tires and potential spinning, as well as your local track prep and surface will play a much bigger part along with your front drive car drag racing abilities on the sixty-foot times you can cut.

A true, soft sidewall racing slick and some of the drag radials are designed to allow the sidewall to distort and “wrinkle” when running lower air pressure, helping to aid in keeping a good contact patch with the track surface, but with a performance street tire that has stiff sidewalls it won't make much if any difference. Also if you drop or raise pressure too low or too high on a street tire and you might potentially reduce contact patch due to distortion of the contact surface.

I personally run a little more air pressure out on the street but with stock OEM tires I'd just put them to 30-32 psi and call it a day if you intend to drag race on them. The actual tire itself and the other factors by far outweigh what small (or large) pressure changes will do for the 60’.

21 psi works for me, but what is a pound between friends. :)

I ran 20psi in mine. I managed a 2.06 and 2.08 60ft times when stock with great track prep. Now i'm lucky to cut a 2.2 :(

Launch rpm? Tips? I got a 13.9 @ 103 with a 60' 2.36, I think with a 2.0-2.1 I will be able to break 13.6s

i had horrible results... just drove the car in and ran it... short shifted in 1st and 2nd on my first pass with a 2.36 60ft and it went 9.48@78mph lol, second pass i banged the limiters in 1 and 2 since i couldnt see the freaking tach and the shiftlight is absolutely useless on the rpd and went a 9.51@77 on a 2.34... both were leaving at 2200-2400 and slipping it since i've noticed on the street that this will cause you to build boost and blow the tires off... i could have probably been more aggressive with the clutch but it was still 90+ degrees when i ran and you think pretty terribly when its that hot in the car...

tires had 35psi in them, heh.

why didn't you drop the pressure down to 20-22 psi???

"failing at driving" lol. that had me cracking up. don't beat yourself up too bad, these
FWD cars are a bitch to launch. just need more seat time at the dragstrip!
(plus it's just plain fun to go there). :)
