good rim/tire combo for 4 lug

Like the title says, I'm looking for a good set of rims and slicks for track only. The last time I went to the track I was on 205/50r15 bfg drag radials on the stock steelies and I couldn't get traction at all lol. I was only able to get a 13.3 but my trap was 118 so I know there's more in it. I was looking at getting some diamond racing steelies but I'm not sure what width and back spacing to get. Would it be better to get 13s or 15s? Would a 13x10 be wayyy overkill? and what size tires for whatever rims you guys suggest. Thanks in advance guys.

Yup, those will work perfect.

Always go with the smallest rim you can fit, it keeps the weight down (rubber weighs less than steel) and it give you more side wall, which will help keep your axles and differential in one piece.

Just make sure you can fit a 13" rim on your car ie. make sure it will clear the caliper.

As for the wheels, 8" wide will work, 7.5" would also work, if you wanna save some more weight.

I'm currently running a 9" wide slick on an 8" rim.

Call Diamond Racing and they will tell you how to take the measurements to ensure the wheels they make will fit your car.

Or....go on ebay or just search in google.....there are a TON of 13x8 rims already available in 4x100.....like a **** ton......like literally hundreds...lol

Example:

V2 COMPETITION DRAG WHEELS MATTE BLACK 13X8 4X100 AUTOCROSS CIVIC INTEGRA MIATA | eBay

You can probably find some for even cheaper than that.

I'm not sure what backspacing is needed for a Cobalt, IIRC the backspacing for mine were around 4.5"

Easiest way to measure is take you wheel off, put a straight edge across the face of the rotor where the wheel mounts and take a measure tape and measure 4.5" from the edge of the straight edge.

See if the end of the tape measure hits anything, just make sure you do this at 6.5" from the center of the hub (as its a 13" rim).

Its not a exact science, but it should give you a good idea if it will clear or not.

Another big concern is the distance from the face of the rotor where the wheel mounts to the outside face of the caliper, depending on how big of a dish diamond put on the wheel you might need to run a spacer behind the wheel so the outside face of the caliper doesn't hit the inside of the wheel disk.

As a heads up tho, my buddy has 13x8 diamond rims on his Cavalier and he had to grind down the top of his calipers slightly to get them to fit.

I didn't have this issue with my 13x8 bogarts, so it really just depends on how the wheels are made.
