How to launch a bolted LNF

I'm coming from a 2.2 to an almost fully bolted lnf running on trifecta.

Roll races I'm completely comfortable with, I've destroyed every car that's wanted some action thus far... I just stay above 3500 and ease into it. I don't want to replace a clutch lol.

But when it comes to a dig, I'm useless.

The other night in the rain I raced a GTI off a light, he kept popping off his bov beside me so I had to. I feathered 1st and he pulled ahead, so I panicked and floored 2nd gear, spun the full length of it, didn't lose any ground and caught 3rd then pulled him pretty quickly.

Same thing happened when I ran my buddies GMS1 Balt from a dig, 1st-2nd he pulled on me and into 3rd I blow by him.

I don't think it helps that these tires are almost bald....

I know slipping the clutch off the start is the best method to not spin, but 2nd gear is where I have the most difficulty. I don't know if it's faster to just mat it and let it spin and catch then shift into 3rd.. Or try and feather 2nd at 70% throttle to try and keep it from spinning...

Any tips?

go out and play around with launching it by yourself, ie not under pressure.

get comfortable with what works for you

I have, and I haven't taught myself anything lol. I can get it going DECENTLY... Hold it around 3k and feather out the clutch, shift around 5 but once I get into second I panic

Launch just over 2000rpm and accelerate at the point where your tires are just barely breaking loose. No lift shift into 2nd for the quickest time.

PS your trans will hate you for this.

If you have trifecta, you can just turn the launch control down with their software to ~2500 or so for street launching.

Get it tuned to drag race. Get boost reduction in 1st 10 psi mabe but focus on not spinning 2nd to much. You can boost ramp 2nd but learing to control 2nd is better. Got powell mounts or CABs yet?? that will help your launch.

Boost by gear is the best answer, but the simpler way I go with is leaving my tune off until 40 or 50 mph, then I turn it on with my CC button.

Does it hurt the car (hardware and performance wise) activating the tune while your WOT?

I always try to do it when it's just putting along. But I'm paranoid with a bit of OCD.

When I launched at the track, I noticed the best way to keep wheel spin down was to rev to about 2500 RPMs and then ease into first then WOT. I'd still spin but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as just dropping it at 5500

Im noticing with my trifecta tune you don't get full power or boost unless the car is flooded. It's almost like a on off switch to get full boost which makes traction and full power without spinning in second difficult.

I've switched tunes many times at full throttle with no problems. Usually when passing and realizing how slow the car is. Having the tune off till you hit third might be the best idea, especially in the rain.

And this is why trifecta blows up cars and puts increases wear on components.
