Has anyone else thought about it?
The woman with the CTSV is probably normal with a faster car and the Cobalt owner is immature? Talking trash about someone online who can't defend herself and posting pictures is a low blow.

still funny though!, imagine one day she decides to google/yahoo her picture tag and it shows up in this forum with all of us talking **** Unless of course the man who saved/whatever her picture saved it under "healthy diet" or "weight watchers", she sure as hell won't find this thread!

Not that the 1/8th is anything to brag about. I was just there to practice my launches all the while not making the balt go ballz out down a quarter mile. The 1/8th, to me, are funs quick runs. Anyway, I did infact race a N/A CTS-V. Im pretty sure it was a bone stock 07-08 6.0. Anyways, he got me at the launch by just a bit but I passed him up pretty quick and finished the run with about a car and a half behind me. This was in my mild trifecta tune. Not the GMS1 tune. GMS1? Who knows. I dont care to speculate.

The n/a CTS-V's have 5.7 LS6 engines.
1/8th mile tracks may just seem like fun to people, but that's really where true drag racers get their setups dialed in and figure out how to get fast times. The back half is really just all about power. The first 1/8th is all about traction/gearing/shifting/launching.

From edmunds....
CTSV
Horsepower: 400 hp
Max Horsepower: 6000 rpm Torque: 395 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 4400 rpm
STOCK T/C
Horsepower: 260 hp
Max Horsepower: 5300 rpm Torque: 260 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 2000 rpm
but you have gms1 so figure 280 /320 at lower rpms.
CTSV weighs roughly 3900lbs and cobalt 2900
3900/400 = 9.75 lbs per pony
2900/ 280 = 10.36 lbs per pony
So I think weight doesnt actually help you..... But on the bright side her powerband is up high, and your hitting torque almost instantly.
Id say drivers race to like 70 or 80 until she starts pullin away if she is half decent, and you'd have to NLS every gear...

Seeing as she has that car, and im assuming didnt pay for it herself, I doubt she will have a full tank of gas being as she herself probably has no money. And besides who intentionally goes to a run with a full tank?
As for driver weight, even if she was 250, unless your like 120 pounds, she still gunna have an advantage in power to weight.
Gas to gas will only net you maybe 5-10 lbs.
Driver maybe 80-100.
so say conservative 90 lbs, thats not enough difference.
I still say itd be close but she is gunna come around you, if you manage to get out in front (assuming she is half decent at driving clutch, which everyone wants to say no, but bottom line is if its her DD and she talks **** she prob romps on it and can for the most part shift.)

i don't street race very often. but if you are going to, pick a nice straight flat country road
that you BOTH know. do it in the daytime, when it's light out. agree on the terms before you race. i would bet a little money on it ($50.00). this might shut her up, and make her
chicken out. like i said, agree on the terms first. something like we will roll race 60-130mph. flip a coin to see who does the three honks. first one to 130 will tap there brake lights several times. one race, winner take all. i think if you roll race her, you have a damn
good shot. this is how i would handle it. give her a reasonable deadline too. if you don't race in the next 3-4 days, you win by default. good luck. BTW, how did you ever meet
this girl?? -skip.

See im thinkin you rather go from a dig, because the top end is only going to favor her, you might get out in front of her from gettin insta torque from the turbo and get you moving, but your gunna start fallin on your face and she is gunna hit her torque band higher up (4400rpms was it?) and really start moving, at that point you got no chance of keeping up.
sides who know how good she is at launching

I would say to do a dig and a roll. Dig, 20roll, 40roll... best of 3 wins.
CTS-V's wheel hop like a mother fugger too. They're REAL bad about it... so if she sucks at life (very likely) then she's just gonna hop the hell out of the car on the line. So if you know how to launch it... I'd go with the Dig race.
As for the ricer math in post number 37 (I'm not knocking it, I use it too)... you are comparing the Cobalt's WHP to the V's BHP.
Remember that the V has IRS, so it'll lose a lot more HP from Crank-to-Wheel than the Cobalt.
I'd say to get a Custom Tune... and you'll most certainly whoop that ass.

I ran one from a dig on the street.
The cts-v had an air intake, corsa catback, and a flash tune with his 100lb girlfriend. My cobalt has an hp tune, k+n, and I was riding solo.
With his car spinning pretty bad I was able to hang a half car back until 60mph and he started to pull away. By about 120 he had alittle over 1 car length on me and pulling.

Frank:
your GM stage one will have better PEAK numbers, but your powerband still sucks beyond 5500rpms.
Don't be surprised if she takes you (roll or dig).
Andrew's car (person who I quoted) traps 110 and he got beat from a cts-v spinning and with another person in the car.
I say you lose, 2-3 cars, LS2 top end > k04+ running out of breath.
