Last night at the Track
Last night at the Track
So last night I took my '06 Cobalt SS n/a to the track for the first time. I wasnt expecting much from it is bone stock and an auto. I ran 3 times, I would have the slips but I am currently at work and cannot use the scanner.
From memory:
1st Run
1.406 Reaction
16.899 1/4
75.42 MPH
2nd Run
.747 Reaction
16.702 1/4
83.47 MPH
3rd Run
1.046 Reaction
16.689 1/4
84.72 MPH
Before I ran, my friend asked me what I thought I would run. I said i would be real happy with a 16.5 1/4 @ 85MPH.... I guess I wasn't too far off.
I guess I'm just looking for some comments on this. Yes I know my car sucks because its N/A and an auto....

Haha me too, But i was being realistic when i guessed 16.5. My friend has a 2.2l manual and he pussed out and didnt go. I wanted to see him run too, because there really isnt much difference between the 2.2 and 2.4L's.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. I believe a well driven 5spd 2.4 can run 15.1-15.3, and that is with a good driver. I think the best a 5spd 2.2 could muster would be 15.5-15.6 stock, so realistically they're about a 1/2 second apart. Not that there is anything wrong with an auto, but you should have gotten a 5spd in the 2.4 and went with a N/A build. Or start building the motor now and then build the auto. Happy modding!!

Dont have the slip anymore to post a pic either.
Ive heard of people hitting 14.9 in stock 2.4's.
That is what I'm saying. In this situation, with this car, an auto and 5spd are in a different league. Granted if were talking about other cars such as Mustangs, Camaros, etc., there isnt much of a difference in auto and 5spd, but when the cars arent all that quick to begin with, the auto and 5spd are way different. And as we see here, it's about a 1 1/2 second difference between the 2.
