Launching the S/C
 

So went to the track last night and best time got out of the Balt was a 15.4 at 90mph only have Air Box Mod and Ingalls TD mods..Was running 90mph all night but stayed consitent 15.8..

Just off the line still getting mad wheel hop wondering if anyone has advice on the launch..Oh also last night was first time at track with the Balt...Was use to launching a turbo car..

wheel hopz is the gay... stage 2 mounts from ottp is needed to get rid of wheel hop. traction bars are also cheap and help a great deal. until u get better mounts u basically cant launch hard lol

i also reacomend the ottp stg2 mounts but if u get them take the ignalls td off it will just give u vibes

and u might wanna be careful, i snapped an axle at the track when i was still stock!

im stage two and i launch at 1700 and its hooks right up and yes i have street tires

Transmounts!! and motor mounts!!! and dont launch it so high what do you launch at?
How does he get times like that Im all stock except cai and i managed a 14.6 maybe 14.8 (not official) and ive raced srt4s that run 14 flat and have beat them?
What are you shifting at?

my fastest 1/8 with a cai was a 9.2 @ 76 with some weight reduction iirc lol

60 foot times? Track elevation? Temperture outside?

Alot can affect your times. I only axle hopped once...ever with this car. Launched at like 3500rpm like a tard at the track. Other than that, ive never wheel hopped. Just spins sometimes. Pretty much if my clutch decides to agree with me, i've got my launch perfectly down packed (about 2K, slip the clutch), but then 2nd usually will slip after a few runs...

Yup, i actually think this helps. First cobalt i drove had less miles than mine. No G85, holy wheel hop in 1st batman! Mine, like i said, other than the 1 time, has never ever done it. Car came with Goodyear Eagle GTs on it. Not a terrible tire, not the stickiest tire either.

ya ive got the eagle gts on the rear now bout to get em on the front too tho, and if i launch mine over 1800 i get spin and sometimes wheel hop it also depends how quick i take first gear and i shift to 2nd and 5500 and into third around 6300 6500 and double clutch second and third sometimes

why the hell are you double clutching? Im just picturing fast and the furious now...:wtf:

lol yeah dbl clutching on a synchronized trans is just shifting slower not hurting/helping anything

When i shift into 2nd at a little over 5000 maybe 5500 it drops to 4000 when i double clutch the car jumps immediatly to 60 and i hit third and do the same to kick up the rpm, its how i take down most v8's in a stock s/c

Well tell me why ur fastest 1/4 is 14.66 dickweed? and why is it i can hang with an srt4 that runs 13.8? so it must not be slowing me down ne, id go head to head wich u with new front tires and launch at 1,500 and get down thhat track faster than 14.6 why dont you go to my thread about the ls1 vs ss theres similar discusion

how is that shifting slower im jumping up rpms and getting to 60 way quicker, i know my car and i dnt do it often but when i do dbl clutch the bitch screams even more.

Oh I understand im just running an injen cai and my eagle gt's, why i am cocky is, i have many friends that run at the strip, i cant i work, wensday thru sat night 8pm to 6am. I dnt get ne time for the track but with there times and me running with them id say im running low 14's depending on launch possibly mid, like i said i have a friend and i hate repeated this but his srt4 runs consistent at 13.8 and when we race its almost even

that is all im not saying im god and my car is faster and im better im just saying i know what i can do in my car. simple as that and i know i can get down a 1/4 in atleast 14.3

for another example my stepdads duramax 6.6 turbo diesel has 464hp and he has it bullyied and has a program to time his 1/4 he ran a 14.4 and i raced and beat him as well. I dont have an official time as i havent ran on the track

no way to know times unless u run it at the track man i raced a big turbo 2500 dodge with chip and track was not preped (bald tires) or anything so traction wasnt there till half way through 2nd and i beat him u would think big turbo truck would be fast but i beat him by .3xxs gotta go to track to prove ur posts bro.... from looking at other peoples times on this fourm i could say im in the 13s which might be possible but got a shit track here so not happening

Ill get some vids soon of me going against an 03 gt with xpipes and other goodies and ill get a vid of that srt4 and a vid of another ss with just a 3inch zzp intake and ill show the double clutch against the other balt and everyone can see what happens, i havent actually gone against the other balt so itll be good

i hate wheel hop.... do the g85s not do it as bad?
