Proper burnout on DR's
 

It seems most here are saying to do the burnout in 2nd. 2 questions, do you keep it in 2nd the whole time or start out in 1st and power shift to 2nd ( cant see that working but hey, I gotta ask ). Also, whats a good RPM to let the clutch out in the box? Any help is appreciated.

2nd gear, e-brake on, and pretty much dump the clutch after rolling through water. Check with manufacturer to see what optimum tire temp is. For my old 555r's nitto said 195 degrees. I also took air down to about 25. Radials don't like low pressure like bias ply tires do.
If you burnout in 1st you may not get the tires going fast enough to get a lot of temp in them.

Yes, haven't raced there but run out a few times a year to watch. I haven't raced anything on the track since 92'! Lol.

I usually go up a few times each season to watch. I prefer not to run my cars cause I don't want break anything lol

Make sure if it starts to wheel hop, that you peddle it quick. Drag radials can be temperamental and they take practice over a slick setup. Once you figure out a good combination to use and can hook up off the line, a 2 step will then allow you to build about 4 psi off the line.

Will they hold 4psi off the line? Thanks for the wheel hop tip. I have Powell mounts and got used to it never hopping. Its good to know to watch out out the Hoosier DR's

be careful with 2nd gear burnouts i blew my clutch into pieces a few years back right through the bell housing

Well then I may just be cautious, do a first gear burnout and hold it extra long. Thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping to break 12's and trap in high teens to 120's. Seems very doable. I'd rather set my sights low and be pleasantly surprised if things do go right for once then the other way around.
