Talking SS S/C vs Civic SI sedan @ E-Town

i went this morning to E-Town!There were 2 other s/c'd cobalts there. one running mid 15's. wtf? the other was running high 14's.
The real news is that i broke into the 13's today. on my first time out to the track this year, on my stock pirrellis.

the slip looks like this:
Me Him
R/T: .623 .805
60': 2.326 2.185
330: 6.112 6.270
1/8: 9.137 9.471
MPH: 80.92 77.05
1000': 11.734 12.164
1/4: 13.893 14.401
MPH: 105.64 101.71

other car was an 06-07 civic si sedan w/ unknown mods (gotta admit, he had a nice trap speed)

say what? the civic didn't sound s/c'd but i dont know his mods, besides my exhaust was screaming+ i was infront of him. it did look like he had a front mount cold air intake.. but it was no intercooler, it only had piping on one side

Yeah that SI was NOT STOCK! LMAO!!! I've gone up agaisnt stock ones and haven't lost yet but he would rape me! 14.4 from a Civic = NOT STOCK and thats for damn sure.

As for you! Nice times man keep it up! But whats up with a mid 15 from a SS/SC? Didn't know how to drive?

Nice trap speed!!!!
If you could launch it good, it would be a low-13 car.
The civic must have had a few mods, but some guys in your area are putting out good numbers in the civic.
Nice run, congrats on the 13's!!!

not tryin to burst anyones bubble, but the new si was under rated. If you do a little searching you will find most people are running from 14.2 -14.8 stock(no joke). With bolt ons some are running in the high 13s. I know this because i own a new honda, and i am a member of 8thcivic.com. If you dont believe me you can search the forum urself and find the timeslips or you can take my word. You'll be surprised. 0-60 is more like 6.1-6.3
If you every board, go test drive one.

im in the process of trading for an SS(gm stgII).

If your si is just as quick as a 2.0 why are you trading your Honda for one?

I HAVE done a little searching.
and theres ONE guy who ran a 14.2 and even the honda owners called him a bullshitter.

New drivers are running 15.2 to 15.6
good drivers are running 14.5 to 15

I have trouble seeing a sedan run a 14.4 stock when you have to be crazy good to do that in the coup.

Realllly!? Hmm thats odd since my SS 2.4 sedan AUTOMATIC runs about a 15.0 to about a 15.3 and so far I have 7 brand new Civic SI's under my belt. In fact I've even turned down 2 more races cause I don't think they're a challenge for me. I mean if they run a 14.2 to 14.8 I should get my ass handed to me on a silver platter not be able to have them by a 1/2 car to a whole car. Sure I thought it could be crappy drivers but after SEVEN DIFFERENT SI's? Nope I don't care how much HP they claim to be putting down my 2.4 in stock form puts down more torque and I'm mildly modded.

14.2 would mean the SI can compete with the SS/SC and thats funny seeing how they're no comptition for my 2.4, and a SS/SC would own me! Sorry man not trying to burst your bubble but this just doesn't add up.

lol ur 2.4 beating them. Nice joke man. Im just saying that they run better than 15.1(with a regular driver). There are also some guys on here with ss s/c running over 15. I bet ur 2.4 would walk them too.

Im not trying to say that your slower, cause a 2.0 s/c isnt, im just saying they arent as slow as every thinks they are. They would give you a better race from a role, being a 6sp and not having any torque. but you dont race from a role at the track.

i'm sure they probably are under rated... however even if they are under rated that means at most they have the 197hp and 130tq to the wheels so right off the bat a stock 2.4 has ore torque to the wheel.. and it's torque that wins races, not hp for the most part. so I highly doubt they're hitting 14.4 stock considering an stock ss/sc has about 70 more ft/lbs of torque and does that in a 1/4 low so 15s yes i can see low 14s stock not a chance.. but 2.4 manuals get about 15.3 or so stock.

yes it might be a tough run for a 2.4, but from my experience honda owners tend to over rate and over talk their cars too.

it was more than likely modded, they're pretty quick stock for a honda ( no offense but just the lack of torque has always struck me as silly) but if they're anything like the 2.4s they handle light mods really well..
