took 07 SS to strip

was last day of racing at PIR. i was busy all day and evening and didnt have time to prep or anything so i just drove there and ran it a few times.

i was kinda disappointed it was slower than i expected after all the roll racing ive done with it.

quickest et was 14.5 which i'm not worried about because with 40psi in the tires i couldn't get a decent launch and it wheel hopped really bad
but my fastest trap was only 97. something.

i was expecting over 100mph. it was about 65f outside so not really hot.

my dad has a ls1 m6 camaro and he barely pulled on me, and i trapped 104 in it. so i was expecting to be a lot closer. on the way home after driving down the highway it felt noticeably faster. i guess it was heat soaked from sitting in line at the strip.

i was planing on brining a cooler with some bags of ice to stick on the s/c when i ran that would've made a difference but didnt have time.

Thanks for sharing even though it didn't go the way you expected/wanted. I'm hoping to get my car to the strip sometime this fall before winter to see what it can do. BTW why the hell were you running 40 psi in the tires? lol

yah i really don't care if its slow or whatever i put tons of miles on it.

i like running the tires pumped up at max when i'm driving around just for mileage and it just feels better driving.

i usually bring a cig lighter plug in pump and air tires down but like i said i was all busy and **** and didnt have time to do all of it.

my 95 stock vette was faster

I didn't think about having to air the tires back up but figured you could go to the nearest gas station or whatever after running down the strip. 40 psi couldn't be good for a launch at all especially considering you are probably on some all seasons.

I hear ya. Guess it wouldn't help much on trap speed anyway.

I've pulled on a lot of fast cars on the highway I guess the heat soak really got to it at the strip. Kinda annoyong with sc cars I guess.

I had torq up on my phone and the iat wasn't super high or anything .and I had the fans going wait I was pulling up to the line and stuff...

The engine and SC was super hot after the runs tho.

I didn't watch the iat while I was racing but at the end of the strip I looked at it and it was 130 but that's after coasting with throttle closed so it couldn't have been that high while driving

I was there that night running my 69 Nova.
I didn’t see you run, but saw your car in the pits.
I have an 06 SS/SC with GM stage 2.
Bought it new. Ran 14.7@99 when stock. I’ve never run it with stage 2.
I’ve started to play with tuning, finally. I’ve been tuning cars for 6 years but never messed with the Cobalt. So maybe I’ll see you out there next spring.

the head soak is brutal for these cars sitting in line even when it was short. i have the tune so the fans are on and everything. but honestly i was expecting it to trap faster.

i've roll raced a lot of cars that trap ~100-105mph area and beat most of them. my dads m6 ls1 camaro barely pulled on the highway, like barely... and i trapped like 104.5 in it at the strip.

the car felt noticeably faster on the highway on the way home after driving for about 15mins down the highway and it getting nice and cool

in the past ive brought a cooler with ice and baggies and set them on intake manifold and gained around 2mph on a different car which was a different m6 ls1 camaro lol

Usually when you spin the mph at the top end is higher along with the et. It must have really been falling on its face on the top end.

I dunno man, pir always seems slower than other tracks.

Last night with 40f air the car was rippppping.

These things rewally hate the heat I guess

Watch video it seemed to be running fine.

I've beaten lots of cars that trap around or over 100

G37
6th gen v6 Camaro
some others I forgey

Do you have HP tuners?

The IAT timing table is very aggressive in these cars.

Proper cooling modifications will stop the heat problem.

127 isn't that bad.

Ever run a compression test on the motor? You said it has what, 120k on it?

Going by the ASS dyno I know my car doesn't feel as fast as it was when it was newer.
